He Doesn’t Want to Get Impeached, Again As my colleague Khaya Himmelman has been reporting for months, there are a few dilemmas at the center of President Trump’s ongoing, relentless, albeit questionably successful (thus far) nationwide gerrymandering pressure campaign. Trump has been explicit that he needs red state legislators to succumb to his demand that…
Is he afraid that it may actually be possible that he’d get convicted if impeached again? I’m not confident there are 60 votes in the Senate, but at the risk of being Charlie Brown, perhaps the Lucys in the GOP might actually come through? Nahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh
For once, I agree with Trump on something - he WILL be impeached by the House in 2027. The reason is not because Democrats are “meaner” than Rethuglicans, it is because they believe in “truth, JUSTICE, and the America Way”, and that Trump is a crook. Simple as that.
Oh, and Release the Epstein files !!!
“I mean, they’ll find a reason to impeach me,” Trump said”
Gee, I wonder how hard they’ll have to look for “a” reason? The difficult part will be narrowing them down.
A Hampton Inn? They couldn’t find better accommodations for the brave agents protecting America from a vicious invasion of murderers, rapists, drug smugglers and people escaping from asylums?
Were the free breakfasts irresistible?
*before claiming that the reason “we” don’t impeach Democratic presidents *
William Jefferson Clinton would beg to disagree.
Bad news: It takes 67 votes to convict. Which makes it practically impossible.
Republicans should impeach Trump now. If you’re looking for a crime, just pick whatever he did on any random day of this term. He did something impeachable that day.
The fact that Republicans are not impeaching Trump, and that Trump knows that Republicans won’t impeach him, is the entire problem.
Here’s a cat:
TRUMP: The reason “we” don’t impeach Democratic presidents is because Democrats are “meaner than we are.”
Or more lawful.
Trump values meanness. It’s the only reason a person might disagree with him. To be mean.
It’s a cult.
And Donald Trump, like a large language model trained on nothing but AI slop, is both a leader and a member. He has completely lost his relationship with reality. The tail is swallowing the head.
I would say there are two things that he’s afraid of. The most obvious is that he is afraid of the continued assault against his ego. He’s just a pathetically weak little man. The other reason is that he is actually afraid of investigations, because he has actually committed crimes.
I don’t think he’s afraid of his cult. Perhaps he should be.
And there’s lots of snitches in his closets.
That makes sense with enough bourbon.
Lots of loose ends in his shorts.
Lots of bologna on his crackers.
Ah yes…60…or Sixxxxxxxxxx Sevennnnnnn - ain’t gonna get either! ![]()
Thanks for the correction…60 for cloture, 67 to convict!
Little while ago I wondered why a Harry Belafonte was running through my head. Then I realized it was “Hey! Donald John! Donald John! He take our money and he run Venezuela.”
Democrats are “meaner than we are,”?
No.
Reality has a bias, and it is biased towards making you look like a moron.
ETA This is a detail from a Reuters photo by Kevin Lamarque. I initially thought the hand was photoshopped from a Jan Švankmajer movie, but no it is his real hand.
Done thoroughly, the articles of impeachment would run to scores or hundreds of volumes. The challenge will be to decide what to leave out for the sake of getting on with it already. Concerned citizens can help by starting right now. Lawyers, clerks, paralegals are essential, but everyone can pitch in. Be nice to have some over-arching coordination. Make it a co-project with Josh M’s DOJ in exile idea. This is a most urgent matter. Ask your favorite AI engine to draw up articles of impeachment just based on news reports, blogs, and publicly available government documents – see if you get anything worth reading. Do you teach law, law-enforcement, civics, history, journalism, communications? Put your students to work on articles of impeachment, argumentation for them, public presentations of them, all for credit. Have them initiate channels of liason with congresspeople and the press. Are you a homemaker? Start your kids working on it, along with your neighbors and their kids. Figure out some way for your pets to help out. They say it takes a village to raise a child. Might take a Mongol horde to impeach one. The time to boogie is right now. Get this fucking ball rolling. The planet depends on it.
ETA: Better work on Vance too. You know, shit pants, change shirt, not done yet etc. And thank you @rickjones, all I did here was amplify what you said.
Apply the KISS principle: impeach him for invading Venezuela without Congressional authorization, without informing the Gang of 8 in advance (required by the War Powers Act), and for kidnapping the head of a sovereign state which we had ongoing diplomatic relations with.
Is there other stuff? Sure: making the DoJ his private law establishment with a revenge and retribution mandate is just an appetizer. But Venezuela is easy even for low-information voters to understand, and the American people already hate that particular tar-baby. Just keep it simple.
Since TSF and his Secretary of Defense (Pete’s Keg-o-Death) think that changing Department names without consulting Congress is so much fun, I’ve wondered if General Bondi might be feeling left out.
Submitted for your approval (and perhaps amusement);
Department of
Retribution,
Inquisition,
Vengeance,
Emoluments and Largesse (for TSF)
She could become the Secretary of DRIVEL. Of course, she’s already perilously close to being drivel…
My first thought was no way one Hampton Inn can accommodate all the ICE and CBP agents being released in Minnesota. Sounds like one location franchisee making a business decision. Can think of several reasons a franchise owner might find occupation by ICE agents bad for business.
Come November we need to elect a veto proof Democratic majority and let Trump swing in the wind while reminding the GOP and the media of all his sins. No Impeachment, sunshine on his life’s activities and record.
