Of course they do. I looked up Grassley a while back and he does get farm subsides. Hell, I think Grassley’s land is worth 7 million going by what acreage in his county has recently sold for.

Stephen Miller probably told him that they were already given 40 acres & a mule, so there was no reason to give more than the 1%.

The real problem with most agriculture programs is while Congress claims to want to help family farmers, most of the subsidies go to large corporate farming enterprises. It might be that the Trump administration did exactly what the Congress wanted. We don’t know from this article.
Doesn’t this article simply reflect the way all small businesses were treated under the first Covid relief act?

We saw 99 percent of the money going to white farmers and one percent going to socially disadvantaged farmers
But black farmers represented 1.4% of the farms, nationally in 2012. So not fair, but not as big a deal as Vilsack is making it out to be either.
$2B over ~50k farms means about $40k each.
I speculate that most of the funds went to giant agri-business firms
That probably didn’t need it in the 1st place
I’m sure that those who could are exploiting the situation to their own benefit while disadvantaged farmers suffer.

Just go to the Environmental Working Group web site www.ewg.org and you can look up exactly what each farmer and rancher gets from USDA in every State and County in the United States. Grassley and his family are in there.

I mean, yea. This is fundamentally how republicans want everything to be distributed. Either the general wealth from their ‘free market’ or to government entitlements and even to voting that’s pretty much the ratio they want.

Exactly. The reason the Farm Bill sails through congress so easily every time ain’t because they love the common farmer. Most of that money goes to the Monsantos of the world.
