Trump Admin Calls In National Guard Against LA Protestors

So Newsom publicly says Trump is “unhinged.” Guess he isn’t playing to MAGA voters anymore.

So much for State Sovereignty. MAGA turning away from state’s rights is going to give conservative Judges on the Courts major whiplash.

Gavin caught so much shit for having Kirk on his podcast that his star lost it’s shine. Did Kirk mention anything about the upcoming attacks on California in that much berated podcast?

I doubt it.
I suspect everyone who wound up pro-MAGA always understood that ‘states rights’ and federal power were interchangeable, depending on which offered them the greatest advantage at the moment.
And, regardless of anything else, their opposition’s claims were just illegitimate.

It feels like an entire city is declaring open rebellion to American authority and sovereignty.

Let summarize reality, then:

An entire city is opposing a man judged to be the worst President in American history, a convicted criminal, a suspected pedophile, an admitted cheater, a pathological liar, not to mention possible national security risk… currently deploying masked military, and/or paramilitary bandits, and/or just guys who like killing… to kidnap women and children off the street… and will tolerate no one asking if the kidnappers are honest government officials or clever human traffickers.

Of course, ICE Barbie is all for Trump’s use of the Nat Guard in blue CA, but was outraged that Biden wanted to use the Nat Guard to legally clear barbed wire on the Texas border.

California suing over Trump’s memo calling for 2,000 Nation Guard units to help secure ICE members in Los. Angeles under Title 10 USC 12406 is needed, but the question is, are these California National Guard members?

If so Newsom can order them to stand down right now.

Are they Guardsmen from a different state?

If so that is illegal under 12406.

But (and this is important) Trump can take these actions under 10 U.S. Code § 253 - Interference with State and Federal law.

This.

Newsom should order them to stand down and force Trump to either invoke the Insurrection Act or sue the state to take control of the Guard under 12406. Stop waiting to react to Trump. Force Trump to react to you.

I remain flabbergasted by Trump’s success in getting voters to disbelieve him on the few occasions when he told the truth, and then getting them to believe his manifold lies. He told us exactly what he wanted to do, over and over.

The thing with authoritarians is that they cannot tolerate dissent and even peaceful demonstrations (like the one in DC that Trump in his first term wanted the military to attack) are viewed the same as if they were violent. It is going to come down to the general strike but it cannot just happen in Blue cities but needs to happen all across the country for it to be effective. And the likes of Trump supporters like the owners of Home Depot and Lowes need to feel the pain and feel it acutely - loss of business due to Trump Tariffs and loss of labor to drive home the nation does not support their agenda of impovishering everyone who is not in their circle.

Now, Howell is also engaging in a bit of fan fic. In his imagining, the Trump administration could shut down LAX, thereby supposedly cut off Antifa from its “supplies lines” while establishing “refugee camps” for U.S. citizens.

So in the White House, Los Angeles is the American Gaza.

The group added that Trump could invoke the Insurrection Act or call National Guard units from other states into California. It’s a reminder of a strange dynamic from the campaign last year. The President’s most fervent supporters and enemies were in agreement: he would use authoritarian power if elected.

Worth noting that there are provisions in the Big Ugly Bill for massive funding increases for ICE to expand what ICE is doing in LA nationally.
