Sen. Mitt Romney (R-UT) had a rough night on Tuesday.
In a viral video posted on Twitter, a woman films herself walking up to Romney at a terminal in Utah’s Salt Lake City airport and grilling him on his refusal to vote against certifying President-elect Joe Biden’s electoral victory, as President Donald Trump has demanded Republican lawmakers do when Congress counts the votes on Wednesday.

This era will not end peacefully. Hope the GOP senators have their security beefed up.
I hope he declares himself as an independent. Changing parties is too big an ask. Then again, we have Manchin to keep Mitt company. Big tent, etc.

Now look at these reprobates who can’t even behave decently on an airplane or in an airport.
I would counsel Romney to change to Independent. He has nothing to prove by staying in the Republican Party. It has left him.
Then Romney found himself trapped on a plane full of similarly angry Trump supporters on a flight to D.C. who chanted “traitor!” at him, as shown in another video. One of them shouted “Resign, Mitt!”
Romney’s personal net worth is pegged by various sources between $200>$250 MILLION. Why in the hell is he flying commercial?
He just needs to win in Utah, and with his position in the Mormon Church, I think he is pretty safe there. Changing party, even to Independent, would probably destroy those chances. The reality is, Romney was on board with most every Trump policy.
I’ve long thought that what Romney was doing is trying to carve out a leadership role in the Senate in opposition to McConnell. And the evidence so far is that it has been a stunningly poor attempt. With McConnell moving into minority leader status now, even the concept of holding 3-4 republican voters to swing with Dems has dried up and blown away.
Manchin is the lone Democrat in an elective office in WV. He’s a prime candidate to switch parties. He’d be an instant hero and God on the Right. And he votes with Republicans more than he does with Democrats already.
History will remember that Mitt Romney supported shitty policies but upheld his constitutional duty. And it will remember each of his other colleagues very differently.
I doubt he could win as an Independent in Utah even with his Mormon cred. He’d also lose whatever scraps of funding the RNC would toss his way for the reelection.
I assume he’s keeping up appearances. But that might change now.
Because that’s how the rich stay rich. It’s a long way from Utah to DC, and like most congress critters he goes back and forth often. That’s a lot of fuel, pilot fees, maintenance, and hangar cost for a private jet.
That’s not true. He voted the same way as Schumer 70% of the time, and has been there with us for most important votes.
I actually felt sorry for him being confronted that way, and then onto the plane. This country, I just don’t know.
MAGAts need to slide back under the slimy rock from whence they crawled from when their disgusting orange daddy pried it up with his tiny yet fat foot. Make no doubt about, THEY are the traitors to the Constitution, to democracy, and to the country.
Has anyone else thought about how these Trump protests and rallies are helping to keep US airlines aloft during the pandemic, well besides the holidays.
