Top Wisconsin GOPer Keeps Big Lie Investigation Running

After a menacing statement from former President Donald Trump, a top Wisconsin Republican said he would give even more time to a partisan election investigator who’s suggested that the state legislature should decertify the 2020 election results.

Is there any real sense of how Wisconsin citizens feel about this? I would like to think the public would tire of this kind of crap, but I don’t trust my instincts anymore, given the Trumpist cult factor.

This is corruption, pure and simple, an attempt to control the politicians in WI and remove any obstacles to MAGA domination of the state. The people of WI really need to step up and vote all this stuff out, it’s the only chance they have to undo what’s happening before it’s too late.

ALL of this continued nonsense could have been eliminated had the Republicans in the Senate done what was actually right and voted to impeach.

One can only hope (and it’s a bare glimmer at best) that Trump-backed candidates will go down in flames in the mid-terms.

From the state that brought you Paul Ryan, Scott Walker, Ron Johnson, David Clarke, Robin Vos, ad nauseum…

Wisconsin voter have spoken. Gibberish perhaps, but they have spoken.

From the WisPolitics article – nice work if you can get it! I trust WisDems will have appropriate campaign ads showcasing this waste of taxdollars.

Gableman wrote in Monday’s letter he was willing to reduce his salary — which had been $11,000 a month — to $1 annually if money was an issue.

Looking at the bigger picture, everywhere we look in the Republican Party we see acts of abject cowardice. The very idea of shame is not a hindrance to their behavior. Fear rules. What does this say about the people who are attracted to this Party? Authoritarian types seem to like them some S&M. The tough talkers gleefully work to hurt people not in lock step with their beliefs yet cower in fear that Trump will punish them. Their fear is so great that they will risk everything to please him. The master puppeteer wants to see them sniveling, groveling and quaking in fear and they readily comply. This is one sick, twisted cult.

Gableman’s getting paid by the state for his services, such as they are. Wonder if he’s kicking back any of that money.

The office and staff budget, on the other hand…

It’s all kabuki. He’ll be running to Bannon if they try to cut his pay. Unless he just has Vos buy him a supercomputer that he can also use for mining Bitcoins…

Question for political gurus here: is keeping the Wisconsin pointless partisan “Big Lie” investigation going help that state’s Democrats in 2022? Would this anger Democrats to help turnout?

A few days later, Vos sounded like he might wind down the probe. He floated the possibility of abandoning subpoenas aimed at forcing several officials, including a number of Democratic mayors, to testify behind closed doors as part of the probe.

Why would a mayor D or R have any knowledge of voting procedures outside of being a candidate or voter? Is this a WI thing, because here in MO we have a county BOE.

I guess I need to rename my political memoir of these wretched times “No Balls for Old Men.”

Robin Vos and his enablers and supporters are drunkards, drunk on their thirst for power and to retain it. He is not unlike many others in the radically wayward and corrupted Republican Party.

Who is paying for this? Regular appropriation legislation passed by the Legislature? Did they increase taxes to do so? Or?

I want to agree with something Gableman said:

Gableman also wrote that shuttering the investigation at this point would “render pointless and a waste of taxpayer money the entire investigation,"

The problem is so would continuing, in fact it wastes more money.

Related- Vos and the legislature were cited for contempt last month, and were supposed to pay $1000/day about April 14 for not producing documents pertaining to Gableman’s biased “investigation” to the court.

Any update on the contempt payout?

Perhaps the D mayors should agree to testify before the silly ass commission, IN PUBLIC. No behind closed doors bullshit.
Let the Wisconsin public see how rethugs are pissing their money away.
Perhaps.

Yeah but he will still charge lunch as an expense which will still come out to $11K per month.
