Several prominent Trump allies, including an organizer of Wednesday’s “Stop the Steal” demonstration, quickly sought to shift blame for the siege of the Capitol Building by blaming “antifa” agitators.
Taking selfies with terrorists and escorting them down the stairs are “strategic failures” apparently. Why can’t the Dems come out and say it? That the cops are complicit?
Rep. Tim Ryan (D-OH), who chairs the congressional committee that oversees the Capitol Police, cited “enormous” failures leading to the breach of the Capitol Wednesday.
“There were clearly enormous strategic and planning failures by the Capitol Police, by the Sergeant at Arms and anyone else who was a part of coordinating this effort. This is the United States Capitol building, with the United States Congress in session handling the presidential election process,” Ryan said during a virtual news conference, The Washington Post reported.
Just a bunch of dead enders who haven’t figured out that the party is over.
And we know that they weren’t antifa. Antifa are smart enough to cover their faces when they destroy property. Y’all queda are just idiots. They let themselves be photographed and filmed with full faces in view while committing federal crimes. These doofuses now get to live in fear every day waiting for federal marshals to come knocking on their door. This stupid asshole’s name is already known.
This message is sure to become all the more garbled when Trump undermines it by reiterating these were great Americans and inciting further riots. We have seen time and again Trump’s propensity to double down after his allies try to cover up for him.
Certainly not dispositive, but I heard an interview this afternoon with a liberal activist in D.C., who said that the left-leaning groups had decided not to come out today, but just to leave the field to the Proud Boys and their violent pals. That was a wise decision.
Every statement by a Republican I’ve seen begins by blaming Democrats for having set the precedent for this disaster. Not a single one of them should be reelected.
