Even with an open seat, Missouri figures to be an uphill Senate race … just hope that Democrats nominate an electable candidate.

I do worry about that. While I have little regard for Blunt, it would be a tragedy if Missouri picks a Hawley twin as his replacement.

So what’s the plan Schumer? Put your job on the line to grow the majority in the senate. Stand up and commit to giving up your leadership position if McConnell defeats you…again.

From the linked story:
“The bill would have to be approved by the Kentucky House and the Kentucky Senate. Republicans hold veto-proof majorities in both chambers.”

My question is, can Beshear just refrain from replacing Mitch? It shouldn’t matter much to Rand, since I doubt he does any constituent services anyway.

What are you suggesting Schumer do that is actually within his power?

The big question facing the GOP is whether they can turn out the numbers they need if Trump isn’t on the ballot. The obvious solution is for Republicans seeking power to be the Trumpiest Trumper possible, but that doesn’t take into account Donald Trump’s unique status as a celebrity non-politician whose unparalleled abilities as a grifter pitchman make him so powerful with the GOP base.

Exactly and all you have to do to know that is to listen to those people. They will tell anyone that the number one reason they love him is he isn’t a politician. They don’t like the GOP any more than they do the Democratic Party. I don’t think they will turn out.

Hell, EVEN I was traumatized. Trauma was the point.

Trump was happy though, which was all that mattered to Trump.

Mutual backscratching. Good for Oprah’s ratings and may be enough to resuscitate a fast-fading C-list ‘career’.

Ann Wagner is my Congresswoman, I think that she was dissuaded from running against McCaskill, thus paving the way for Hawley. She was persuaded to run for Congress because MO GOP did think she could run the state party.
Billy Long from the Springfield area, and I think he may have more time in Congress than Wagner and Smith, so I can’t see a state rep or senator winning, but hey I have no idea how the MO GOP runs the candidates.
