Top GOP senators are predicting that the Senate impeachment trial could end in an acquittal vote as soon as Friday, with the only thing standing in their way being any procedural delay tactics Democrats employ after a vote on witnesses Friday that is expected to fail.

There seems to be a lot of “this is how it’s going to happen” lockstep - is this like a vision board exercise to counter the “we don’t have the votes” news of yesterday? If we say this is what will happen enough, then it has to happen?

Dems piss me off, a lot. Trump’s reps claim, to no pushback from GOP Senators, that Trump can solicit foreign help because his reelection is in the national interest, and apparently also because credible evidence of wrongdoing by the opposing nominee apparently deserves to be exposed, even if the source of that alleged knowledge of the criminality is a foreign intelligence service. Why haven’t the impeachment managers asked Trump attorneys this: What if the Russians became convinced Biden had a very good chance of being elected, and they wanted him elected for some selfish set of reasons, and they knew they had intel on Trump that would push Biden over the edge into that victory? Is the GOP OK with Biden recruiting Russian intelligence services into his campaign for help against Trump?
Why the hell hasn’t that question been posed?

The cover up will be complete by Friday so on Saturday Trump can openly seek foreign election meddling for him. And there’s not a damn thing we can do to stop it.

The GOP has been planning for this moment for a very long time. The plan is to have a GOP unitary executive in perpetuity. Now that they have free license to do so they will use the levers of the state and foreign influence to ensure their reelection and with the coming blessing of the senate there won’t be anything we can do to stop it.
