Tennessee state Sen. Kerry Roberts (R) said on Monday evening that he wasn’t being serious when he bashed higher education as a “liberal breeding ground” that should be abolished.
““My listeners clearly understood the humor and hyperbole of it.””
They understood neither. First, because there was zero humor to understand…and second, because if you used the word hyperbole in front of them, they’d scream at your for not speaking our nashunal languich called Engrish.
You ain’t foolin’ no one but yourself with your pathetic victim-routine, Ker-babs. You gaslit your idea up the flagpole in Trumpian fashion to see if it could generate some buzz, and when you got called out on it for the bullshit that it is, you fell back on your predictably Trumpian I was joking excuse and slithered back into your hole. We’ve seen it a million times now, and you’re not even good at it.
The lawmaker complained that the “stupid stuff” young people are being taught “is absolutely ridiculous.”
“And here we are as legislators paying for this garbage to be taught to our children,” Roberts said. “And we’re not doing anything about it in all these red states across America. We let it exist and it’s absolutely unbelievable.”
This is not true. There do exist institutions of lower learning in various Red States where religion is taught over and above anything resembling intellectual discourse. The females are taught that they are subservient to their men and both sexes are taught that the White race is in danger of being - “replaced.” They have done something about it. What is he complaining about?
No, no he wasn’t, he meant all of that seriously, and he speaks for a lot of conservatives (especially evangelicals) who don’t want people to know how to distinguish facts from fiction, as the ability to do that makes you less likely to fall for their nonsensical beliefs and outfight lies. Republicans today depend on people falling for the propaganda, and not recognizing facts when they are presented, and it’s really their only chance to retain power going forward. A world where people are inclusive and respectful, where science is used as the basis of policy, is anathema to the political structure Republicans have put in place over the past 40 years.
Haha you make a joke? I like jokes too! Here’s my newest joke: I fucked your mother. Haha do you like my joke? If you don’t you obviously have no sense of humor.

Actually, Mr. Roberts, state legislators, particularly those in red states, have been doing something: you’ve been cutting budgets for higher education for decades.
“He who pays the piper picks the tune” is a terrible approach to education, but you’re not even paying the piper.
