Tensions from protests in Ottawa that were started by truckers opposed to a new vaccine requirement have now spilled over the U.S.-Canada border, with Canadian truckers clogging key routes between the neighboring countries.
Ottawa waited too long to handle this and now its metastasized. It’s just like the tea party, it’s being taken over by monied interests (if it wasn’t started by them in the first place)
On Thursday morning, police in Manitoba province confirmed that the Emerson crossing into North Dakota was “shut down” after a convoy of vehicles and farm equipment blocked traffic heading both north and south.
Malicious disruption of interstate commerce seems like a crime the Feds could interject themselves into and bring the full weight of the government to bear.
I guess they could start booting the tracks and farm equipment. Then get the tow trucks to take them to a make shift impound holding lots. Start charging the registered owners for storage.
All of these things happen in the city of St. Louis for illegally parked or abandoned cars. Even cars that were in an accident and are not drivable. The fees alone can cause some people to just give up their vehicles.
The thing is once you start the fines on the registered owners then that data base is linked into all city data bases.
It’s a racket I know, but sometimes you have to fight fire with fire.
As we often say, “there’s more of us than there are of them.” I’m sure our Canadian friends think that too But it doesn’t take a lot of “them” who are dedicated to creating chaos. Especially when the policy is:
“You could enforce and try to shut down the protest, but that would be un-Canadian,” Mr Leuprecht, the security expert, told the BBC. “When people protest, we wait it out and try to negotiate our way out of it.”
I really can’t fathom why this was tolerated for an afternoon, let alone three weeks. This is just madness. They should all be sitting in cells and facing massive fines while their trucks should be wracking up fees in an impound lot. Can’t pay the fees? Too bad. We’ll be auctioning your vehicle to cover what you owe.
Towers don’t want to cooperate for fear of losing customers. The Canadian army has the equipment. They need to use it. The truckers are not winning the PR war. But if this goes on, the public will lose faith in a government unwilling to uphold the law and restore order.
