Invoking the 25th? Some Democratic members of Congress are doing what they can to sound the alarm about an unhinged president threatening to make good on his social media promise that “a whole civilization will die tonight,” including urging Trump’s Cabinet to invoke the 25th Amendment and calling for impeachment. Democratic leadership has not yet…
will have the moral clarity to push back if they are given clearly illegal orders
In the “before,” “normal” times this would be at least somewhat reassuring, however SCOTUS said anything he does within the duties of his office is NOT illegal. Soooooo, as Commander in Chief it would appear any order of his is “legal” per SCOTUS. PLEASE, prove me wrong.
IMHO if he has or threatens to commit genocide, that is not within the scope of his presidential duties and is illegal. We need a constitutional lawyer here to set us straight.
For a guy who said he ended 8 wars and deserves the Nobel, this sure doesn’t get him anything but jail time.
Someone oughta read the First Felon’s threats but replace Iran in the narrative with the United States and then read it to a GQP or even a Dem and ask them how they would respond to this threat were it directed here.
We’re still not learning the lesson of 9/11. We are vulnerable. And someone could just decide they’ve had enough of all of this and start laying waste to portions of the US, or even to some of our overseas bases.
It’s getting real close to a point where there will be retribution, but it won’t be the First Felon that’s exercising it.
TACO ! He listened to Pakistan. But Iran says “It is emphasized that this does not signify the termination of the war,” the statement said. “Our hands remain upon the trigger, and should the slightest error be committed by the enemy, it shall be met with full force.”
Iran’s explanation of the 10-point plan included its claimed that the Strait of Hormuz would be subject to “regulated passage … under the coordination of the Armed Forces of Iran.”
It added that would be “thereby conferring upon Iran a unique economic and geopolitical standing.” It also would receive full sanctions relief.
Nothing about fees to go through the strait.
One would think (and IANAL), however he wouldn’t be “ordering genocide” he would be giving orders on potential targets that are within his duties, no? *&^%$#@!
Ok. After today, how is anyone in the whole world ever going to believe, to pay any attention whatsoever, to a word Donald Trump ever says again? As it was, it’s as if we’d all sat here all day in a beginner’s knitting class while the markets said ‘meh’. The media blared he’s lost his mind, war crimes, genocide… like they just woke up and noticed.
No, the Seditious Six said he could not be prosecuted for anything he does that falls within the Court’s determination of official acts, i.e., he can act with impunity even if his acts are illegal.
You have more confidence in the Supreme Court than I do. I would expect them to grant Trump carte blanche on military actions. Any resultant genocide would not be treated as an independent criminal act, it would be nothing more than the consequences of war for which he cannot be prosecuted because he has the power to engage in military action without the consent of Congress for 60 days.
Trump is a corrupt authoritarian who has the backing of a corrupt Court.
Tucker Carlson suggested that Trump was the anti-Christ…..
Even a stopped clock is sometimes right. For once I agree with Tucker.
So it was TACO again.
Yes! This headcase has jerked us around yet again.
How pathetic are we that we have let things come to this?
The most accurate summary I’ve seen of the humiliating defeat of the Trump regime at the hands of Iran:
Trump is insane and Whiskey Pete, a falling down drunk, is completely incompetent.
They are destroying America and humiliating the country on the world stage. The MAGA party cannot control them; Congress needs to change hands, and I worry November may be too late.
But how much did his kids make betting on it?
Old petie as we speak is giveing his maga alternative facts of how we WON this great war on MSNOW

Sean Colarossi:
This wasn’t diplomacy by a savvy leader playing 4-D chess. It was desperation from a weak, insane president who needed a way out of the mess he created.
The terms of the ceasefire only deepen the embarrassment. Trump spent weeks framing this conflict around Iran’s nuclear ambitions, insisting that the threat was so imminent … That was the entire premise of this war, wasn’t it?
And yet, the peace framework now on the table hands Iran major victories and pushes the nuclear issue into some later phase of negotiations that may never even materialize.
Trump creates the crisis, ratchets up the rhetoric and sells himself as the only one tough enough to handle it. Then, when reality closes in — he grabs the nearest off-ramp and repackages the retreat as a win.
IANAL, either, but I am a military history buff and I’ve read pretty deeply into the Nuremburg Trials following WW2.
Actions have consequences. It may be an act of sophistry, but the rules of war differentiate between legitimate military targets like military installations and equipment and some infrastructure that support them and illegitimate targets like hospitals, schools, water supplies, power plants, etc. It’s absolutely sophistry to note that hitting a school in a targeting error is regrettable but not a war crime while deliberately targeting the school is a war crime.
But that’s where we are. If he orders attacks on a military target that also knock out a civilian bridge, that’s apparently one thing. Ordering an attack specifically on that bridge is a different matter, and outside the scope of his duties as commander in chief.
So it’s a mens rea crime: his intent in giving the order determines that the order is or is not criminal. Fortunately, he was very clear about his intent with those orders and that intent made the orders criminal and outside his scope of duties as commander in chief.
What does IANAL mean?
I Ain’t A Lawyer
IANAL = I Am Not A Lawyer
