“Misinformation to Vietnamese”
Pho News!
As long as you can get rich peddling hate and disinformation, people are going to peddle hate and disinformation. There are another 5 just like Sonia under every rock you turn over.
FOX News was destroying us slowly - social media is an accelerant.
demanding transparency from people who broadcast news on their platform
“Influencing” is not journalism.
There’s a soup spot round the corner from me called ‘Pho Gyu’. Wagyu soup -
The internet gave every whack job in the world their own barrel of ink. Paying them peanuts to use it is just too easy.
Fox News isn’t the only media source spreading propaganda and misinformation. No one individual reaches the millions that our newspapers and broadcast media who knowingly perpetuate government propaganda and lies because they are perceived to be better for the collective good of all, ( but especially for the current administration) Even TPM dabbles in it occasionally,
Seems fairly typical for agitprop though and possibly subsidized in those terms as well. Russia is not the only autocracy with an interest in disrupting democratic powers and allocating resources accordingly.
I have a synonym for the word “influencer”; a huckster. Selling the same old snake oil.
The ‘product,’ particularly these days, seems to mostly be some variation of ‘authenticity;’ something real about themselves rather than something real about the world.
Harry Frankfort edges in on this concluding that sincerity itself may just be another kind of bullshit; ephemeral and no substitute for accuracy.
Of course most influencers, notably including TFG, were probably never interested in the pursuit of correctness to begin with so that part is moot I would guess.“The contemporary proliferation of bullshit also has deeper sources, in various forms of skepticism which deny that we can have any reliable access to an objective reality and which therefore reject the possibility of knowing how things truly are.
... One response to this loss of confidence has been a retreat from the discipline required by dedication to the ideal of correctness to a quite different sort of discipline, which is imposed by pursuit of an alternative ideal of sincerity. Rather than seeking primarily to arrive at accurate representations of a common world, the individual turns toward trying to provide honest representations of himself.

Yes, yes… and yes. Say it again.
Biden is running a campaign. Trump, Russia, Bannon, Manafort, et al are engaged in full-spectrum media warfare. This election will tell us which world we now inhabit,
They also worried she may be partially created through deepfake technology like generative AI or text-to-speech tools because her images use heavy filters and because she publishes so frequently.
Spending a few looking at the videos. May be partially created? Filtering is heavy duty. She looks like she is out of a ten year old video game. Some of the intros look like a single pre-recorded session and then edited into the main. I would swear they are green screening her blouse or such and changing it in system over several videos. There are certain movements in that lead-in that appear identical twitch by twitch. And then there are the hands. At times she does a thumbs up and the hands look heavier than her image implies. Would not be hard to imagine some middle aged specialist doing all the work and they have totally filtered his image to something new. But then I am being paranoid about such things happening.
You’re not paranoid if they are out to get you - just sayin’…
Whole microecosystems of bad actors.
