A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Bill Barr’s Trusty Stooge Special Counsel John Durham got spun so many different ways by Bill Barr that by the time he released his…
Recent photo of my son and daughter-in-law’s cat Trisha, who traveled across Ukraine to make Poland her temporary home. Soon Trisha will have another Maine Coon kitty to keep her company when her humans are at work.
People with actual mental illness issues and conspiracy-minded Maga nutcases - it’s hard to tell the difference. I hope this guy wasn’t able to purchase a gun based on his history, but he would have been allowed to do so in some of these other red states. That’s what’s really bad about this, that and the lack of mental health services in this country.
In other news, CNN really screwed up giving Trump a platform it appears.
I suppose, but what will that tell us beyond Durham wasted a lot of money doing nothing? Republicans won’t mind, you’d have to say that is their raison d’être. All that talk of fiscal responsibility is just that, unless they’re in charge in which case it’s wasted money. That investigation would have been more valuable for society and probably more costs effective if the lawyers and staff had provided free daycare.
I need more popcorn because of this potential war between Tucker Carlson and the Murdoch Family. Plus, Tucker is making the mistake of bringing Dominion Voting Systems into this war by spreading the lie that Dominion was responsible for Fox News firing him.
Not in the least. Thinking people thought from the start that this was a nothingburger. Durham’s two whiffs in criminal court made it clear that it is a nothingburger.
I confess to complete propaganda fatigue. Can’t bear to read 300+ pages just to pick out the half dozen spin points MAGA Republicans (or, it seems, Jake Tapper) can use to claim… something.
Bill Barr
There are other examples of very competent people surviving the Chump administration, yet tarnished to varying degrees. In a cesspool of incompetence, competency is not necessarily a virtue.
Anyways, you can look at all the lesser lights of the RW ecosphere and see only destruction. They don’t need a deft touch, or any real plan. The disparity between how HARD it is to build things vs how EASY it is to destroy. So easy. You can ruin things AS they are being conceived. Or WHILE they are being built, and surely AFTER they have been built. It takes no skill, no competency. You can do it all day every day. You don’t need total buy-in or unanimity.
Bill Barr didn’t even need his skills and brains and competency. He would be a stand-out figure in the Chump era of someone who was very competent and probably had the intellectual heft so sorely lacking in that gang. I am not saying he is the sharpest tool in the shed, but he stood at the pinnacle of power, law, and accountability. He could manipulate SO many pieces on the board. And it didn’t take much skill. Just ruin things. Simple, easy. Squish this. Squash that. Promote her, fire him. A secret memo. Edit a report. Poop in this punchbowl, disappear Epstein, a call here, a threat there.
