The Worst Advice for Democrats on How to Win Elections

And don’t forget, FIFA itself is in the middle of this - not only raising ticket prices overall, but the more popular the match, the higher the ticket price - dynamic pricing.

FIFA’s World Cup ticket sales outraged fans. Now they are under investigation

The reactionaries love them some hippy punching and think the Demonrats would be much more successful if they’d join them in doing it.
Or, maybe, success will come from reviving Strom Thurmond’s State’s Rights Democratic Party.

Some of these things are not like the others. Some of these ideological debates pale in comparison to demand for structural reform. I recently attended a state Democratic party convention at which virtually all the speakers gave a version of the same speech: Trump is terrible (which he is) and then a laundry list of Democratic/progressive positions designed to elicit a series of applause lines. Other than some wave toward affordability, there was nothing much holding these speeches together. Democrats need to go both broader and also bigger (imho.) And slicing and dicing on social issues of the most concern to the most committed activists is not the way to do this.

I watched Greece play Bulgaria in the 1994 World Cup in Chicago. The ticket was inexpensive and the crowd huge and enthusiastic. The corrupt Trump regime and almost as corrupt FIFA are wrecking the U.S. World Cup events. Their greed and exclusionary policies ensure a disaster.

Waiting nervously to see what danger befalls the FIFA games, the athletes and the fans (visiting and otherwise) during the World Cup in the US.

Not sure about the response here in Canada either. Toronto, one of the two host cities, where I live, is normally a fanatical fan city for soccer, especially World Cup (fanatical in an excited, celebratory way). This time, there are obstacles to involvement. The random matches that are playing here are not necessarily the teams that our multi-national community follows and would love to see. Vancouver, the other host city, is 4,200 km (2,600 miles) away - no one without a private jet is bouncing back and forth between venues to watch a game. To take in a match in the US means crossing a border that is decidedly and erratically unfriendly to foreigners, twice.

It could have been great for all three host countries, Canada, the US and Mexico, if the US could just stop getting in its own way.

This is going to be a total shit show Monday. And heaven forbid he decides to return for game 4.

NO watch parties near MSG, not even any pedestrian traffic allowed, no vehicle access and no pedestrian travel through the secured area, which sits in a busy part of Midtown Manhattan and is above a major transit hub. No purses or bags of any size allowed - everybody dig out your cargo pants!. Adding magnetometers all over the place, which can only screen 300 people per hour - 50,000 fans plus all of the workers? Sweet. And that doesn’t take into account @castor_troy adjusting their scanning speed. But hey, they have dozens of them and they’ll start scanning at 6:30 PM. Oh, and they’re doing the full TSA style airport scanning. Wand you, then send you through. At least you can keep your shoes on.

50,000 fans/300 per hour = 167 hours Tip off time is 8:30 PM So they’ll need 84 fully functional and staffed to get everyone through in two hours. With at least a few people missing the actual start of the game. Cool.

Now, they’ve made it clear that there will be absolutely no changes to anything with Penn Station directly below MSG and don’t expect anything at all to happen there. Watch party down there is gonna be lit.

The country needs a Democracy First party, a party that will bill itself and attract voters of whatever political stripe who want to end the Republican Trumpfest/dumpster fire. The Democrats need to be that. Republicans don’t have policies, they have threats. Democrats need to run on eliminating those threats and repairing the damage.

ETA: What does a policy platform mean when the underlying structure needs to be fixed so that America has a functioning system delivers to the elctorate the government it wants.

If you think the sick fuck ruining World Cup games in the US is bad, just wait another two years for the Olympics in Los Angeles. EPIC ruination. And not to mention the sick fuck currently ruining our 250th birthday.

There are people taking advantage of “friendly” matches leading up to the World Cup that have been going on and will continue up until the official event, that are much more affordable.

As President Trump prepares to watch the New York Knicks take on the San Antonio Spurs at Madison Square Garden, officials are planning for a heightened security posture,

Trump isn’t even worth an extra 14 year old arthritic German Shepard with many missing incisors and carnassials.

Previous AI detection software had been spotty enough to apparently determine the Declaration of Independence was AI.

Kinda weird to me they never told AI how long it’s been around. You’d have thought that would have been helpful.

Oh, it’s going to get so much more intolerable.

This is such a disingenuous take on what Klien was saying that it borders on intentionally deceitful. The whole point is that people who agree with us on 90% of things shouldn’t be excised from the party making them defacto Republicans. It took pro-life Democrats to pass Obamacare and there’s no version of reality where those prolife Democrats were replaced by universal healthcare progressives if Democrats just had the courage to primary them. I generally want to furthest left candidate elected wherever they can be, in new York that’s mamdani, in some places that’s Stupak
