TRUMP AUTHORIZES NEW NAIONAL ANTHEM
YMCA to Replace Star Spangled Banner
WASHINGTON, DC–January 21, 2025 --(AP)
Beginning February 1, 2025, the Village People song “YMCA” will replace Francis Scott Key’s “Star Spangled Banner” as the official national anthem of the United States according to an Executive Order issued by President Donald Trump in the early hours of Tuesday morning.
Commentary President Trump posted on his Truth Social website shortly after the sighing cited the song’s “danceability” and profusion of “masculine energy” as the primary reasons he authorized the switch.
Mr. Trump also criticized the “deep state overtones” of the Star Spangled Banner as an important reason he sought to replace it as the national anthem. It was not the official national anthem during the presidency of William McKinley, Mr. Trump pointed out, only becoming so under the rule of early 20th century “woke, fascist, communist Marxists.”
A follow-up Truth Social post e also condemned as “fake news” reports that the real motivation for his decision was the inability of his daughter-in-law Laura to properly sing the current anthem. “Everyone admires her ‘bombs bursting in air’,” Mr. Trump insisted while also announcing a limited number of recordings of her version of the anthem paired with a new “$Laura” cybercoin will soon be available for $1,199.50 on his Truth Social platform. “You won’t want to be left out, so you better hurry,” he warned. “Jeff Bezos is offering $40 million for the distribution rights.”

This is one of the things that I don’t like about most reality TV. They choose people with combative, combustible, outrageous personalities and throw them together in a highly artificial environment because, hey, it makes for good TV. But people watching at home see this and think, “I guess that’s how I should act.” Poor behavior is spread and normalized.
The worst lasting effects of the Trump regime may not be any one of a number of truly horrible and stupid policies, but its effect on the way people behave. An entire generation has grown up thinking this is normal.
