Mike Collins, in calling for deportation of a bishop who preached her values, reveals what I have been saying all along, that deportation is a human rights violation. He wouldn’t threaten his enemies with it if it wasn’t.
Deportation is always wrong, exile is always a human rights violation.
His response demonstrates how unfamiliar he is with going to church services. It is common for pastors to exhort their audience to act like Christians.
The fact that she addressed it directly to him is the problem. He is way too weak and pitiful to accept anyone suggesting that he is anything less than Christ himself.
There is only one way to deal with a bully. Slap that motherfucker down hard. With your fist or with constant, nonstop ridicule. Every time someone writes a quivering, frightened essay about what the fat asshole plans on doing, you give him a tiny hard-on. You give oxygen to his bullshit. Stop fucking playing his fucking game. He is a lame duck. Call him that. He is a failure. Call him that. He is useless and worthless. Say that as many times as his father did. Stop cowering in front of the piece of shit.
Bishop Budde is a true Christian. All true Christians are all “never Trumpers”. Put another way, if Christ had the smallest fraction of the hatred this poor, evil man and his MAGA minions have, Christianity would not exist today.
There was some discussion in last night’s Where Things Stand about Dems looking weak because they aren’t loudly protesting the cabinet nominees. Some others and I disagreed – I think the way forward is to make the GOP own their fascism. Even the worst folks are all getting out of committee and will pass the Senate 53-47, so if you’re a Dem, don’t vote for them. The GOP is in lockstep right now. This is on them, just as surely as the fact that tcf is back in office is as much on McConnell and his cohort as on the Dems.
I mean, from Mount McKinley to the Gulf of America, this is what enough people voted for. It’s gonna be awful. But elections have consequences, and as the kids say, FAFO.
I don’t particularly want to read the column, but I did actually listen to the clip so that I could see the context. It didn’t change my mind; in fact, saying that some elections matter more than others before snapping out two salutes like that actually made it seem worse to me.
Oh, wow. That was one long migraine pretending to be a conversation. How the fuck are you going to shame the shameless? What exactly are you making them own? Jesus fucking christ but lefties are useless. No, you aren’t going to stop republicans by making them own their fascism anymore than you’re going to shame a democrat with bathroom bills. Fascists already know they’re fascists. Fascists think they’re right. Fascists think they’re the good guys. How the fuck is making them own that going to save democracy or stop them? Jesus, do I have to do everything around here?
Where is the critical mass, pardon the pun of religious figures besides the righteous pastor Budde to stand up to Trump and the retrograde MAGA cult? Where are today’s Bonhoeffer’s, Kings and Berrigans to speak truth to power? The folks who ought to challenge the prosperity gospel grifters and bigots like a Franklin Graham and John Hagee.
If by “nasty in tone” he meant gentle, melodious, earnest, and calmly assured, then sure. It must have burned his furious little soul to have to hear basic Christianity spelled out while people watched his reactions.
