This is even more outrageous than it looks on the surface, because there are already two 747s being outfitted as the next AF1, and AF1 isn’t just a “Flying Palace.”
It’s outfitted with elaborate secure communications gear, EMP-hardened against nuclear attack, has a full medical suite, the list goes on. So taxpayers will have to pay for all of that, in addition to the two already being modified. With any luck, the amount of work needed to convert this thing to AF1 standards will take so long he’ll never get to fly in it.

O/T So we were looking forward to leaving the states and all the political BS for a while. A street vendor in Bergen wanted to talk about Trump and the political situation. An Australian couple waiting for the Flam-Myrdal train wanted to talk about Trump and the political situation. Get to our hotel in Oslo and there’s a competing pro-Israel / pro-Palestinian rally literally across the street in front of the Parliament building.

I have several colleagues who were terminated. They could either take the buyout or choose to be “riffed.” Those who made the latter choice are counting on the courts to rule these moves illegal so they can return to work. They miss their work and fret over what is being lost (lives, security, benefits, clean air and water). I see the toll this is taking on them and their families. One colleague’s daughter elected not to start her freshmen year at Oberlin to save her parents the money until things are resolved. Another has been having panic attacks for the first time in her life. It’s hard not to despair.

I love how they take the gift bypass one step further -

No mention of “unequipping” anything once he’s done.
Oh, and you know he isn’t going to want to wait to try it out. He will demand he gets to use it “right now”, at least for a test trip, no matter how vulnerable that would make him.

I would “stand” with Ukraine if I could stand for more than a few minutes. But being horizontal to keep back bones happy … I still support Ukraine!!!. Putin is a sly dog. Evil and nasty to his core.

Well, from the article @ralph_vonholst posted above, they met at least through lunch.
The location of the talks in the Swiss diplomatic hub was never made public. However, witnesses saw both delegations returning after a lunch break to the gated UN ambassador’s villa in Cologny.
And it was a rather large group, not just the 4 or 5 people named.
