If you’re Peter Thiel, you’d do well to remember that the Palantiri were wrought by Feanor, and while he was incredibly skilled, his arrogance and pride ultimately destroyed him, all of his sons, most of his extended family, caused his people decades of suffering, and utterly ruined nearly everything they touched.

And you were cocky enough to think using that name was a good idea.

And after all this is over, the GOP will still scream their heads off if a Democratic presidential candidate so much as accepts an honorarium from a Wall Street firm for a keynote speech.

Lutnick: “We do expect a 10 percent baseline tariff to be in place for the foreseeable future … what happens is the businesses and the countries primarily eat the tariff.”

While its true that lower tariffs are not as bad for the US, the Peterson Institute has gamed this out with hypothetical 10, 15, and 20% baseline tariffs on imported goods. None of the outcomes are particularly good. Average Americans and smaller businesses without political clout seem the big losers here. Trump will just use the hypothetical revenue gain from charging tariffs as a way to offset the $3 trillion annual hole in the nation’s finances caused by the “Big Beautiful Bill” to help our struggling oligarchs.

Under each of these three tariff rate scenarios, the United States would see lower GDP, investment, employment, and real wages over the following decade than otherwise—i.e., than without the tariff increases—and higher inflation over the initial two years.

I am guessing this “gift” will at least break through to a few of the squishy low info voters how corrupt their party is and when the midterms come around and they are trying to buy bread and milk and eggs on an hourly wage a bit more anger will turn against the Rs. (But what do I know, I’m a half full glass kind of guy. )
