A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. ‘Enemy From Within’ It’s rare these days for Morning Memo to read like anything other than a litany of travesties, indignities, and setbacks in American public life. For a moment, I thought today’s…
Love those long lenses.
More economic bad news and numbers. These all get tallied as “job loss”. 100,000 jobs lost.
To use a clinical term I first heard used here, the President’s brain is “mush.” Who is running the country? Under whose authority are WH officials acting?
Seriously? Rappelling from a helicopter to an apartment roof. Great use of taxpayer dollars and resources. And did they get FAA permission for their flight plan, that liw?
Oh, yes, notorious gang members.
Second para of today’s NYT piece (front page above the fold): “rambling and sometimes incoherent speech” ![]()
“Government efficiency” = Paying employees not to work for 8 months at a cost of $14.8 billion.
Looks like the military officials present didn’t care much for the meeting - and not just because of the cold hamberders and pizza.
…heard.
Fairway to heaven, eh.
The three main points of the Quantico shit show:
1. The military’s principal enemy is other Americans (even Hitler didn’t tell the Wehrmacht that its main enemy was other Germans);
2. The Geneva Convention is dead letter, just like the Constitution (another “lesson learned” from Trump’s deep friendship with Netanyahu – gunning down innocent people is sanctified by the Old Testament).
3. It’s OK to rape women or otherwise harass them out of the military (there are already significant recruiting shortfalls; subtracting 17% of the existing personnel will be impossible absent conscription, which might be the actual game plan).
The big winner? China.
Public officials in Broadview, Chicago suburb, have launched three criminal probes against ICE agents. (aka ICEholes)
Two items completely missed in yesterday’s news cycle. Canada-related.
. Saw them accidentally in a TV preview for the 11 o’clock news.
The second reference to the 51st state was not out of place in the address to military leaders. Canada and the US have significant joint defence arrangements put in place during the Cold War. (There was a script to Trump’s meanderings yesterday.) Any military threat to Canada was purely coincidental

Galactically unpopular. And this is before the ADP numbers and the shutdown. He’s losing.
…brilliantly.
