But the American Eagle Sydney Sweeney ad is a racist dogwhistle, and a pretty obvious one at that. The ad copy writers knew exactly what they were doing and the kind of controversy it was going to stir up - you’d have to be pretty fucking dim not to know that a blond haired, blue eyed white woman crowing about her superior genes/jeans was a clear reference to eugenics and racist ideology. American Eagle and Sydney Sweeney were more than happy join in.
