Originally published at: The Supreme Court Got Its Fourth Justice To Hear Challenge To Conversion Therapy Ban - TPM – Talking Points Memo
The Supreme Court on Monday announced that it would hear an attempt to overturn Colorado’s ban of conversion therapy for minors. Conversion therapy attempts to change LTGBTQ patients’ gender identity or orientation, and leading medical organizations have long criticized the discredited practice as deeply harmful, especially for young people. Dozens of states and Washington D.C.…
The last time I checked, not a single Supreme Court justice holds a medical degree of any kind.
Nor are they licensed psychologists, psychiatrists, or counselors.
Well, how many more days of 900 point losses on the Dow will it take for the money branch of the GOP to admit that they all voted for “fucking moron” as per Rex Tillerson ?? I hate to tell you, you genius money men, but it’s been apparent for some long time that Trump is a “fake businessman” who has never earned a dime on anything but grift.
Trump is, in fact, a disaster for the economy and the country. NOTHING will get better until Trump leaves office. NOTHING.

New Study Finds Conversion Therapy, and its Associated Harms, Cost the U.S. an Estimated $9.23 Billion Annually
This is the first known study to apply a comprehensive model to assess the socioeconomic impacts of conversion therapy.
Research scientists at The Trevor Project, the world’s largest suicide prevention and mental health organization for LGBTQ young people, in partnership with health economists at Cytel, a multinational research organization, published a new peer-reviewed study today in JAMA Pediatrics that found the practice of conversion therapy on LGBTQ youth, and its associated harms, cost the United States an estimated $9.23 billion annually. Proctology Hobbyists only…
Always pulling things out of their ass…
Pretty good for amateurs, i’ll give them that
I mean… if the argument is that Conversion Therapy should be allowed to be sought out, by adults because they are are loathing jackasses like Lindsey Graham…? Sure… I guess that can be allowed…
But under no circumstances should anyone, ever be forced to participate.
Under no circumstance should anyone under 18 be allowed to participate in it.
You would think that state medical boards, state professional organizations, and the state legislation that gives them power to regulate their own professions would be the best suited to decide these issues, but at least four SupCt justices think otherwise. Republicans are all in favor of state/local control, except when they aren’t.
Who needs a medical degree? They can just open up their Bible and squint at it like a Rorschach test and decide it means what they want it to mean. Jesus didn’t say squat about gay people, but had a lot about tending to the needs of the poor/sick/homeless/downtrodden. Somehow they never find those passages.
More seriously, they are worried about the free speech rights of the “therapist” but not about the rights of the victim of that therapy.
You need to understand that the so-called Catholics on the SCOTUS HATE Pope Francis and they, therefore, hate Jesus of Nazareth and all of his most important lessons.
They are all unwitting followers of Mephistopheles and should ALL be shunned by all real Christians.
I’m more inclined to believe like your namesake than a Christian, but I agree.
Lost a lot of money recently, at least in terms of my investments. I hope I lose it all. If I have to be destitute for America to be saved, then so be it.
Agree 99%… I can’t be sure about the bolded part though…
If conversion worked, evangelicals would be Christ-like.
States’ Rights is so passé.
They’ll just create their own certifications boards ala Rand Paul.
Shall we call the next Hoovervilles “MuskManors” or “TrumpTowns”?
“believes clients can accept the bodies that God has given them"
Unless she’s going to Mar-a-Lago.
First I’m getting shades of Kim Davis vibes from this case. Has Chiles ever counseled a trans child? The trans child’s parent? If a someone has transitioned, and is an adult then what’s the problem if they want it reversed? But if Chiles is not open and honest to prospective clients then that’s the problem. At least the difference between Davis and Chiles is that Chiles is not a county employee.
Or OB/GYN’s.
I wonder if any of the males have been in the room during their wives exams? Or if any of the females had their husbands in the exam rooms?
