The Senate Notches A Bipartisan Infrastructure Win. Now On To The Main Event

And then the word regimentation would be bandied about… :face_with_monocle:

I hope he gets so angry he decides to harm the GOP by tearing it apart. Go ahead Donald, primary the living daylights out of all those bastards!

Well, I’ll be damned ! My Optimistic Heart is running victory laps around my Cynical Mind once again, LOL !!

Never underestimate the political power of Joe “Papa” Biden. He is a master of finding the fulcrum point in any piece of legislation he touches. After four long years of division, “Papa” is exactly the right guy to run the show in 2021.

The reconciliation bill needs no GQP Senators to vote for it.
Can’t be filibustered.

Those are also the most gratifying words though, too.

Pelosi controls the calendar. She can bring the bipartisan infrastructure bill at anytime between now and Jan 2022. If the reconciliation package falls through, for whatever reason, then she can schedule a vote on the bipartisan bill and get her half a loaf. There’s no point panicking and doing it now. Progressive house members are prepared to vote for Sinema and Manchin’s top priorities as long as Sinema and Manchin vote for a bill that includes the progressives’ top priorities. Both sides are negotiating where their limits are so the bargain will hold. We’ve let Sinema and Manchin prance around for six months, why begrudge the progressive caucus the time to do the same?

When you’ve had life throw as much shit at you over the years as Joe Biden has, and come through it, you’ve learned a thing or two on the way.

Yeah, well, Presidents used to have maps of what each Senator wanted and needed when working legislation through on the Hill. Hopefully that’s being done again now. I don’t know if any of this is going on in the Biden Administration as fact but it would be surprising and disappointing if it wasn’t.

I honestly don’t know what could be done. She’s egotistical and stupid enough to switch sides. I really wouldn’t put it past her. All that performative “sitting with the republicans at lunch” and all that stuff. Frankly, I believe that Manchin would never switch to R but Sinema would. So how far can Schumer push when we only have 50 senators? We really need to just get a couple more D’s in there in order to get past this Sinema/Manchin problem. I don’t see it changing anytime before that.

This was after she sided with Senate Republicans against increasing the minimum wage to $15/hour.
