Good morning! I am back, and excited to get back into it. The Next Trump Attack on Abortion? Overton spent the Biden administration at the America First Policy Institute, one of…

MOST CRUSHING ECONOMIC OPERATION EVER TAKEN AGAINST ANY COUNTRY

I believe TRUMP has his Mission Accomplished moment… just not against the country he thinks it is.

The anti-abortion movement is not the Dotard’s thing; there is nothing in it for him. So one has to wonder whom he is trying to please.

Good question. He’s not running again so he doesn’t need to please the anti-abortion Christo-fascists. For the answer, I’d go for the usual explanation that it’s about money. Donation checks for his Preznit Library in Miami aren’t going to write themselves.

With the gross government debt now over $40 trillion, and massive fiscal irresponsibility on the part of the Congress, the finger-pointing is about to begin. Bessent’s Treasury is supposed to be on top of this financial stuff, but it has to be more than government of the billionaires, by the billionaries and for the billionaires. That’s only 800 people out of a population of 340 million. The only saving grace for the US economy was that Trump hadn’t managed to completely screw up monetary policy, but that was pre-Warsh. How is Bessent supposed to provide fiscal leadership when nobody believes him?

  • White nationalists at a recent conference celebrated that “local media has been dying all over America, which means that there’s essentially no real way to hold local governments accountable — and they can do whatever they want,” concluding “this is a good thing.” [Investigative journalist Phil Williams] (As Local News Dies, White Nationalists See an Opening) flagged the statement.

Oh, so now the government will be the problem.

Well, some believed him. They bid yields down after his announcement, rather than collectively screaming, “Bullshit!” Of course, they immediately lost the money they’d put in.

These people have a lot of faith that, at the end, their opponents will do the right thing by them.

I give it a few months before the FDA retracts its approval for mifepristone, making it illegal to sell or distribute in the US, should she be confirmed.

The Senate won’t even look sideways at this - confirmation along party-lines.

That is an interesting observation. Trading of securities is increasingly algorithmic, occurring over billionths of seconds. It could be the AI is gullible, but AI should learn about pretending to be gullible to screw other AIs. Sort of a built in long con, like The Sting for robots. Any truly naive, informationless entities trading in the market are likely to get eaten alive.

Another festive morning of nonsense, sometimes hard to take when you don’t get the one piece of news you really want . . .

Meanwhile, to our great relief, Sasha is home and doing ok after 10 days in the kitty ICU for renal failure. Continuing care (fluids, etc.), but she’s home and happy, us too. Old pic, kinda looks like a poodle right now with half of her shaved
