The Saga Of RFK Jr., Dr. Oz, And The Possibly Infectious Canadian Ostrich Wobble

Hello it’s the weekend. This is The Weekender :coffee: Secretary of Health and Human Services Robert F. Kennedy Jr. has brought us so much, including sext scandals, bulls**t citations (more on that below), and admittedly bad medical advice. Now, the gravelly voiced political scion wants to bless us with flightless birds that are quite possibly…

Of all the subjects that I’ve commented on here at TPM this is the very first time that I’ve had to contemplate the subject of possibly infectious ostriches. And if I’m frist Valentine thinks we all need to take a hard look at ourselves…

Why, yes, Senator Ernst, we are all going to die, even you. But frankly, pretty much most of us would appreciate it if our currently moronic, nasty government didn’t frigging kill us!! Which is what the current policies of the government health secretariats seem determined to do, and what the Republican majorities seem determined to do. And yes, Senator (how in hell did you manage to become a Senator), you said a really stupid thing there.

Hundreds of millions, if not billions of people have avoided diseases due to vaccines, and other prophylactic regimens. Many developed with the assistance of the U.S. government, if not researched and perfected in their entirety.
We’ll likely never know how many people will die in the future because vaccines and treatments were curtailed or ended. Brilliant medical researchers in the private sector are losing funding, and Federal labs are being gutted or shuttered. Trump is quite literally taking actions that will kill untold numbers of citizens. And by extension killing foreign people deprived of our nation’s medical advancements.

Surely, you dont think youll live forever, right? Stop throwing government money at an unsolvable personal problem.

Republicans have long been convinced a great die off would be beneficial. Until this bunch, they were going to confine it to non-Rs. Now they only want to kill off all but the very rich. Joni may well find herself and her family on the expendables list.
