The Republican Party Can’t Figure Out What To Say About Medicare, Social Security

“He is promising not to reform entitlements. So is Trump, by the way. We have these leaders who are saying ‘I am not going to do anything to stop the debt crisis in this country.’”

DeSantis has griped that Trump is deploying “Democrat attacks.” Trump has gleefully called his competitor a “wheelchair over the cliff kind of guy.”

It’s not that they can’t decide what to say; they all agree on that. They want to eliminate all of them, Social Security, Medicare, and Medicaid.

It’s how to say it that’s their problem.

“All he wants is to get one to two more Republicans elected and get power back,” McBride said of McConnell. “Cutting Social Security is not the way to do that.”

Exactly. They can kill grandma later.

Repubs seem to want to control our thoughts, words, deeds and benefits.
They are against what is popular and in many cases needed by the American public.
Now with Trump and his Supreme Court, the wealthy and others they can get their revenge against we the people for not kissing their asses.

The GOP has been trying to get rid of Social Security since the day after it was enacted.

The GOP motto, “We don’t know what it is but we’re agin it” (Esp. if it hurts our donors.)

The games these Republicans play, yes/no, get sillier as things come apart for them. With the slo-mo implosion come the cries and screams.

If things are this nuts now in the GOP, think how hysterical they’ll be a year from now. I have high hopes for 2024.

So says Paul Ryan (AKA Eddie Munster), who IIRC, benefitted as a teenager from SSI survivor benefits. Like his heroine, Ayn Rand, he believes it’s OK personally to benefit from government programs as long as “those people” don’t get them (Rand used Medicare to pay for cancer treatment).

And can anyone explain to me how someone who wears his Catholicism on his sleeve like Ryan can simultaneously worship Ayn Rand, who called Christianity a “slave religion?”

Republicans will try to use the same angle as opposing Studend loan relief…

They will work on convincing old folks already on SS to support its demise (as long as it doesn’t affect them) as a way to stick it to selfish millennials.

My crystal ball™ tells me that the Dems will hold both the presidency and the Senate and retake the House in 2024. Unfortunately, the Dems will be nowhere near a filibuster-proof majority, but they may be able to do a lot of good through reconciilation and executive orders.

Hypocrisy. Just like most Republicans.

“I got mine, F**k you” is their motto.

Virtually every single increase in the debt in the last forty plus years (beginning with Saint Ronnie of Raygun) has been due to cuts in taxes for the wealthy. Every single time the economy recovers from a reversal, the Repubs cut revenues and eliminate options for the betterment of the country and its citizens. :face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth::face_with_symbols_over_mouth:
