When it comes to a motion to vacate, you can shore up a majority coalition in different ways. Uniting your own caucus tops the priority list, if you can swing it. Nancy Pelosi was certainly good at this. But if that’s not guaranteed, then you must look beyond. Offering the Jan 6 footage carrot doesn’t surprise me, but I believe I’ve also seen some recent talk of Jeffries’ telegraphing Dem support for Johnson in exchange for a bipartisan CR.

Does Biden get to replace them all and do it in 2 months just like the Republicans did with Barrett? Again not advocating in any way, shape or form.

With Democrats controlling the Senate now, I think the answer is, “Yes.” Schumer is majority leader so he sets the calendar and the agenda.

I was in Southern Mexico some years ago and came upon a gaggle of Americans in a hotel lobby. They were blathering about God, their God it seems. One young guy saw me and said they were there as evangelicals to bring god to Mexico. I pointed out to him that just around the corner from the hotel was an evangelical church. It was small but very present. I also informed this guy that in downtown Mexico city was a Christian cathedral of immense size and over 500 years old. The faith was already deep in the fabric of the country and it was presumptgous of him to assume no.one in Mexico had heard of Jesus.

Whatever, it does not sound like JESUS is all IN on this. At least not MY Jesus.
The “deadline” isn’t a deadline for trump so much as it is a starting gun for Robbi Kaplan and EJC. It’s the point where they can start taking post-judgment discovery and seizing assets in satisfaction of the judgment.
If I were in their shoes, the first thing I would do is notice up the deposition of that court-appointed monitor, as she undoubtedly knows where all the accounts and assets are and which are most readily susceptible to getting attached and auctioned. trump could still bond out the judgment at any time to stop that process, but it starts with identifying what it is that you hope to get seized or auctioned.
And you do have to go to court to get approval before you can start seizing assets, but that’s usually pretty perfunctory.
I dare say that more men are named Jesus (that’s Hay-suss) in Mexico than in the United States, even though the US has nearly 3 x the population of Mexico.
