It’s too late to read another 310 posts to find out if my observation about this is either crazy, refuted, or horribly redundant. That having been said, it sure seems to me like McConnell, et al., are trying to setup a game of Democrat-vs-Democrat chicken by forcing the debt limit into the Reconciliation track. This puts the whole “two bills” gambit and the Progressives vs. Sinema+Manchin on a collision course with a date certain when default/shutdown force SOMETHING, anything, called Reconciliation to get passed. And the Ds, unwilling to flush the country to win a political point of dubious value, unlike the Rs, will have no choice but to do just that. And if that makes the Reconciliation package just a faint shadow of the original MegaReconciliation “Biden Agenda”, well, we can’t let the nation go down the tubes. The whole thing is just spectacularly cynical on the Rs part. But what’s new here?
