Once, 1980, I got to fly first class on a 747 to Rome with Dad in the cockpit. Great dinner service in the upstairs lounge with some interesting foreigners. One I remember was Lebanese, the others escape me.
We got there at the crack of dawn, crashed for a while, did some sightseeing in the PM, had a great dinner, Dad turned in early and I partied with the locals at the bar downstairs until about 3 AM.
Smoked a joint in the bathroom at the airport, in the basement, but there was a window up by the ceiling you could open and look out on the tarmac. Had to fly coach back, but thankfully the flight was pretty empty so I grabbed 4 seats in the back and slept most of the way home.
I drove home from JFK about 90 mins so Dad could sleep.

It wasn’t the frustration of occupation. The timing of the 10/7 attack was strategic. Israel was about to sign a normalization treaty with Saudi Arabia, which would have resulted in Saudi money flowing to the Palestinian Authority, Hamas’ mortal enemies (other than the Israelis). Hamas needed to kill that deal, and it worked. The Saudi street would not have tolerated that deal after the inevitable Israeli response.
They underestimated the consequences of the shock to Israel from such a successful operation – the largest number of Jews killed since the Holocaust – but from their standpoint, it was a logical move to prevent the PA from becoming the dominant Palestinian faction.

Looks like one shooter and his cell stopped moving about 90 minutes after the first shots at 2pm. They used that to go right to his location and found him dead…hours later. In the meantime they thought there might be multiple shooters working from high ground with the ability to keep sniping at LE. I suspect he killed himself because there doesn’t appear to be any verbiage from the LEs about how “they” neutralized him.
If everything is as it appears, another RWNJ using subterfuge and cowardice to lure unarmed innocents into an ambush.
