The Obscuring Is The Point

House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-LA) is barreling ahead with his plans to hold a vote on House Republicans’ budget blueprint Tuesday evening, despite the fact that at least two House Republicans have said they will oppose the measure, making its chances of passing questionable at best. (And, in a meta sense, despite another, much larger…

Speaker Jesusbot is a johnson.

Given the success of the town hall meetings that members had this weekend, “nothing specific in the resolution” may not be enough to provide what they consider adequate cover. Even my rep, Stephanie Bice (Tool, OK) had pushback, but she probably believes that the line of BS she spun out was adequate to confuse everyone.

Why give a huge tax break to those rich folk that do not need it and do it on the backs of those who rely on things like Medicaid, Medicare, and Social Security? That’s not how a sensible budget is made.
Republicans are mean spirited at minimun

So much of what GQP is up to brings to mind a sentence in the Gospel of John: For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved. Obscuring, that’s necessary when you don’t want your deeds exposed and yourself and your party reproved.

Darr,

You are being far, far too kind.

The mere fact that something can be spun in your favor doesn’t mean that it is the least bit convincing.

Sure, uninformed people will let this pass (just as much of the administration BS does), but with increasing numbers of people paying attention, because even right wingers are being DOGEd out of their jobs and livelihood, fewer things will be allowed to pass under the radar, even by MAGA followers. Most people care more about having a place to live and something to eat for dinner than they do about supporting Trump.

So, instead of starving granny like his zombie eyed predecessor, Mike Johnson wants to hold her head under the water until she doesn’t need these programs any more,

Likely about the best that can be said for him.

OT, but really not. Ms. Brutus and I TRIED to attend Rep. Chrissy Houlihan’s (D-PA-6th) “State of the Sixth” meeting tonight at The Colonial Theater in Phoenixville PA. This great, historic theater only holds 658 people, so at least 1,000 people were turned away. The line stretched around the block.

We only saw two obvious MAGATS, one decked in the Trumpy hat, t-shirt and a hoodie with an American flag on the sleeve. The other had a Gadsden flag baseball cap and they were both furiously typing on their phones. The crowd was a nice mix of of differing ages, so there was definite interest in attending the event.

Mike Johnson is a liar. Work requirements to receive Medicaid are cuts. If Johnson and Republicans believe in a work requirement for Medicaid, why aren’t they proposing daycare or subsidized daycare so parents/mostly mothers can work?

Civility even among those who could not get in prevailed I hope. I’ve heard of town halls in red places where the GOP audience was loud and exceedingly unhappy.

Yes. If he, or any other treason weasel, ever said anything true that would be news. They learned to lie and weave under Reagan. They haven’t uttered an “official” statement that is fully true since. The budget always, ALWAYS comes down to hidden attempts to undo the New Deal. That’s all they do. When the child of a GOP operative is pulled out of whatever slime cocoon they come from, the first words they learn are take more money away from them and keep it for us.

But then, parents (particularly single parents) could work and thus receive Medicaid! (duh) The point is to strip the most desperate of all of their current benefits, not to enable them to keep them while building employment records and Social Security/Medicare accounts… It’s the classic Catch-22 approach.

Because, as I know you know but I feel the desire to say anyway for cathartic reasons, they don’t give a damn about the people affected.

Maybe share this with Josh. I know he’s been looking at “attack the GQP” town halls, but this is outstanding!

EXCEEDINGLY polite, cordial crowd. I made a joke to Ms. Brutus that “we” won’t be torching the theater or assaulting the assembled Phoenixville PD or Chester County Sheriff’s Department deputies who were providing security for the event, unlike J6 or your average MAGAT.
