The New Update About The Capitol Pipe Bomber Underscores How Little We Know About The Case

When the military becomes a political party or a church, things get complicated.

To weak-minded people, that execrable trio represent different flavors of strongmen, men who can boldly declare stuff (no matter how stupid or false) and millions follow. This suicide bomber was mentally ill. These are his choices.

PTSD can be very baffling.

The only “presidential library” I’m aware of the sick fuck having is the one with all the stolen documents in it, in a bathroom at Merde Largo.

The words still have meaning. It’s just that brain-dead MTG never knew the meanings and it’s all scrambled up in her head, so she just screeches bumper sticker mantras.

So to me, it looks like the world of facts and knowledge has been usurped by the idiotic blatherings of people who don’t read and don’t think. And now they’re in charge of the government. Oh goody.

FWIW, the NYT does include the following in today’s front pager about the event:

The writings found on Sergeant Livelsberger’s phone suggest that he had been increasingly concerned about politics. In one note shared by the police, Sergeant Livelsberger said that people should “try peaceful means first but be prepared to fight” to get Democrats out of the federal government.

In another, he said that “masculinity is good and men must be leaders,” adding that people should rally around Mr. Trump and Elon Musk, Tesla’s chief executive and a top donor to the Trump campaign.

However, it isn’t emphasized as much as Josh (and the rest of us here, presumably) would like among discussion of other factors like PTSD.

This cartoon ranks right up there with the best of Herblock – no words but the message is crystal clear.

I can’t even begin to fathom what, where, and how he came upon these ideas. Livelsberger was only 37 y/o. So he was born in the late '80s. Which means he experience 9/11 as a teenager. And probably didn’t understand Viet Nam and those vets and what they went through. But then again mass communication was being formed into what it is now.
I’m just stumped.

I beg to differ. More and more language is evolving. As an example, every week youth culture, online and in life, changes what is left and right; up and down. It happens so fast that not even they can keep up. Imagine when they are the ones in power. Yikes!!!

Speaking truth to power cost that cartoonist his job. I applaud his honesty. A similar time for me in that I resigned a good paying job on a point of honesty and truth. It hurt financially for a few months until a different department at the same hospital recruited me. They new my reputation and it’s what landed my job.

You can fool all of the people some of the time and some of the people all of the time, but you can rely on the votes of the some who believe everything.

Do you remember the “I’m not a Dr. but I play one on TV.” When you go on to sell medical related items with that line the appropriate response should be to ignore the add. Some people don’t. Had every episode of the Apprentice started with “I’m a moron, but I don’t play one on TV.” These folks might have stood a chance, but his bigotry might still be enough draw them in.

I noticed you left off Richard Marx on that list.

Agree. Language is constantly changing. What I’m specifically referring to here is that “Communism” and “fascism,” for instance, have specific definitions in dictionaries, encyclopedias, political studies.

An educated person would understand these definitions. A stupid angry person would just take a cue from other idiots and use words inappropriately as epithets because they don’t know any better, and never knew any better. Just like when MTG referred to the “Gazpacho police” or a “peach tree dish,” her ignorance is glaringly obvious through her misuse of words.

Propaganda works -he may have had PTSD but that does not explain his manifesto’s screed about Democrats let alone democracy. The armed forces are not to be used against Americans, period. His call out to militias -dangerous vigilantes- and his fellow service members to occupy Washington DC should be a wake-up for us all.
