Valedictorian made it through her approved remarks, then took a swerve asking people to use their voices to speak out. Aside from USA Today, I only found this on various FauxNews outlets and the NY Post, where she was described as a whiny, Muslim teenager. Even this article does that with Palestine and at least adds ICE.
“Whether it’s the millions suffering in Palestine, Sudan, Congo, Afghanistan and so many other countries around the world, or the families being torn apart by (Immigration and Customs Enforcement), these are not distant issues. They are happening right now as I speak,” she said as cheers and applause could be heard from the audience. “My point is, we’re not given a voice to stay silent.”

Thank you for talking about the sense of loss and the mourning. I have been feeling that myself more and more, as I thought about the country that I thought I lived in. More and more, it feels like my views of who we were and what we stood for were naïve and I wonder how much of what we’ve been shown to be under Trump II was always there, but I had assumed they were outliers and aberrations.

If I am correct only hardcore Dems and the most political junky-types of hardcore Rs/MAGAts understand any of this. How he shut down all the IGs, the foreign lobbying watchdogs, puts in non-confirmed Cabinet and Dept heads, or has them doing 3 Cabinet-level jobs…horribly. They don’t know about selling the public lands, the crypto schemes, the market manipulation, none of it.
Attention economy indeed. When and if all these low-info barely leaning Dems, all Independents, and most of R voters DO pay attention…it is to all the wrong things. Trivia, vibes, and influencers.
