The Motley Crew Starring In Dominion’s Billion-Dollar Lawsuit Against Fox News | Talking Points Memo

Seems to me that Dominion has little incentive to settle this quietly, even for big bucks, since the company’s business, reputation and value have been drastically impacted by the lies and misinformation deliberately spread by these yahoos. Money can heal some wounds but will not give them their reputation and future business back. While I suspect Fox is going to want to get rid of this - no matter the cost - as soon as possible to avoid discovery, Dominion holds all of the cards here. I am looking forward to Dominion’s lawyers pushing hard and fast on this.

It’s a good thing that W. Bush signed the Prison Rape Elimination Act of 2003. Apparently governor Abbott refuses to implement it because its an excessive federal mandate.
I take it that you saw the article in Washington Post the other day about how many of the insurrectionists came from Dallas and it’s suburbs. Shades of the Mink coat riots.

Agree. Since the slander is already impacting their sales, Dominion may feel that a public restoration of their reputation is just as important as cash reparations. Maybe more so. No advantage in settling this under the table.

I have said before that Trump–trained in Bluster and Lies by experts and buoyed by a natural proclivity for lies–is at a distinct advantage over his Motley Crew.

And at a distinct disadvantage against a number of charges…

And publicly hammering every one of these lying mf’ers into the ground would be emensely satisfying.

I’m sure they’re saving the best/worst for last. They probably don’t even care about getting a financial judgment from the Trumps as much as they want them to admit they were lying. They might even be willing to settle with FOX if they offer enough money, but they need the Trumps to fess up to the Big Lie if they ever have any hope of saving their reputation.

He was always the harmless, “rich” blowhard with too much money to be worth going after in the past (at least it’s probably the excuse used by prosecutors that could have tried but didn’t). The level of harm he has caused negates his primary defense, though I doubt he fully understands the privilege he was afforded that has since evaporated.

Wow, the Michigan GOP is on a roll:

The leader of Michigan’s Republican Party referred to Gov. Gretchen Whitmer and two other top Democratic elected woman as “witches” that the GOP wants to “soften up” for a “burning at the stake” in the 2022 election.

He also joked about assassination when he was asked how to remove two GOP congressmen, Reps. Fred Upton and Peter Meijer, who voted to impeach former President Donald Trump.

Ron Weiser’s statements Thursday during a local Republican meeting, which are on video, were first reported by The Detroit News on Friday.

I’m pretty sure I read there was video of the incident. Hope Democrats put the footage to good use.

OT, but never ever ask the GOP whether there’s any limit to how absurd they can behave…

They’re probably also feeling under threat by increasing demands for vote-by-mail. They not only have to protect their company’s reputation, they have to protect the very idea that voting in-person with a machine is a good thing. As a major fan of VBM I’m hoping they win this immediate battle and lose the war in the long term.
