The Many Levels Of McCarthy’s Newest Debt Ceiling Nonsense

House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-CA) broke new ground in shamelessness Tuesday, sending President Joe Biden a letter accusing him of holding an “extreme position” on the debt limit because the President has refused to negotiate spending priorities — which Republicans have not produced — so long as the debt ceiling is being used by right-wing members as a bargaining chip.

Kevin McCarthy accuses Joe Biden of not playing ball with Kevin.
Joe says “Kevin where’s your balls?” Kevin says “It’s not fair! You have balls and I have none.”
Joe: “I’m sorry for your situation, Kevin, can I buy you an ice cream cone?”
Kevin: “No! And quit weaponizing ice cream cones!”

When Kevin’s corporate masters get nervous about the stock market then he will have no choice to get a deal. It’s all a show.

Kevin McCarthy may hold the title of Speaker of the House, but he is NOT the real Speaker of the House. The real Speaker is collectively, and sometimes individually, Greene, Gaetz, Jordan, and/or any of the other needy, camera hungry insurrectionist apologists and their corrupt donors.

It’s my understanding that what Joe Manchin wants has nothing to do with conservation.

So Kevin’s/republican’s legislative platform is “cry like child whos clearly losing an argument?”

And this is considered “manly alpha” leadership to the Republicans? This behavior makes the conservative ladies swoon? I’m glad I don’t understand.

Biden and the Dems need to get a refrain going:

McCarthy, et al. ALWAYS voted to raise the debt limit when Trump was president.

Rinse and repeat, ad nauseum.

Joe manchin wants to conserve the river of dark money that flows into his house boat. That is all. The rest of you plebs can drink coal slurry from lead pipes.

The “ballooning national debt” seemed to trouble McCarthy far less when he voted for then-President Donald Trump’s 2017 tax cuts. Those tax cuts, in addition to then-President George W. Bush’s, have accounted for “more than 90 percent of the increase in the debt ratio if you exclude the one-time costs for responding to COVID-19 and the Great Recession,” according to a Center for American Progress report released this week.

It should be noted that both the great recession and pandemic began on a Republican President’s watch and were resolved on a Democratic President’s watch.

And yes, I blame Trump for the Pandemic and Bush for the the financial collapse. To Bush, Alan Greenspan kept interest rates low to cause a housing bubble to hide the fact that Bush’s economic policies were as disastrous as Bush’s war in Iraq. Had it not been for Greenspan’s housing bubble we would have had president John Kerry.

And yes, I blame Trump’s incompetence for the pandemic. Other presidents have faced similar issues and have immediately sent American and UN people to stop it at the source. America first Trump actually pulled people our people out and refused to support UN attempts to get into China when COVID was first discovered.

But the general point that deficits since Ronald Reagan are mostly caused by Republican economic policy with the support of Republicans in both branches of the legislature is most important when discussing deficits especially when a Democrat is president.

Kevin is dumb. He will never have the stuff of McConnell or Pelosi. Most likely he fails to accomplish anything and his corporate backers eventually pull him back from the abyss and make him end the impasse with nothing but token concessions at best. Less likely is he takes down the economy. A dumb movement attracts a dumb leader. Hopefully he doesn’t take us all down with the Republican ship.

Okay, so the US has not yet defaulted, but already, foreign markets are concerned and China is again offering up the yuan as a much more stable international currency. I dread to see how much worse it will get as summer approaches.

In an additional level of unseriousness, McCarthy has still not produced a budget. So he’s scolding Biden for his unwillingness to debate completely unidentified policy planks.

“But … this is the part where the Dems are supposed to start negotiating with themselves, and fall all over each other racing to give away half the store for the sake of “bipartisanship” before we even have to lift a finger. What’s going on here?”

“I mean,” Squeaker McCardboard added plaintively, “we are talking about the Democrats here, right? It’s not supposed to go this way.”

Hey, they’ve all gone all in on a man who whines constantly about how victimized he is, and still can’t get past 2016… which he won. Not to mention 2020. Or threats of accountability for literally a whole lifetime of crime preceded by his years as a whining, nagging, demanding, tantrum-throwing child.

Note that Today’s Republicans also consider “manly” those dudes who walk around “strapped” and clutching a semi-automatic rifle, out of some fear of “antifa” and those dark skinnned people.

“We’re not getting rid of anything” is code for “but we will slash benefits to the point where they’re meaningless.”

And yet McCarthy is the freakin’ Terminator next to the true pioneer of conservative tantrum-crying, the one who led even the South Carolina Senator to try a good angry weep. And no, I don’t understand how we got here, either:
