As a tuxedoed former President Donald Trump stood on a stage in Manhattan on Saturday night and doubled down on past quips about being a “dictator,” at least one member of the audience had real ties to actual historical dictatorships.
“You must always be doing things and obviously succeeding. The hard part is to keep people always at the window because of the spectacle you put on for them. And you must do this for years.”― Benito Mussolini
It also nodded at the irony in Trump and his allies’ insistence that his strongman bluster shouldn’t be taken seriously
We failed to take Donnie seriously the last time…but we definitely took him seriously in 2020.
Donnie is nothing but a cheap imitator of European right wing politics. Also how in the Hell is Patel supporting himself these past three years?
doubled down on past quips about being a “dictator,”
FFS TPM don’t join the rest of the lamestream press and normalize this shit. If TMFWWNBN gets re-elected, he will be dictator for life. How many times does he need to say it out loud?
We seem to have set the Wayback Machine back to the 1930’s, when the Fascists and Nazis were defining and refining their messages for the next decade. When the Defendant, currently out on bail, says the next War will be WWII, that is exactly what it means to him. He wants to complete what Hitler was unable to do.
What is left of Democracy in this country needs to stop him. Because no one else will.
“I think this point about being a dictator for one day is he’s going to hit the ground running,” they said.
Oh, he’ll be running, all right. He’s already running, and not just for President. But he won’t get away; the law will win the race. His luck and his ability to intimidate the judicial process have run out.
May this be so! But, it will only happen if we we are far more on the offensive side of things, and less on the defensive. We need to attack these criminals like we were Jack Smith. And, by criminals, I’m talking about almost half of Congress and the majority of SCOTUS. For pete’s sake, we ARE smarter than Kash Paetel and Steve Bannon, aren’t we?
