The Jan. 6 Committee’s Recs To Prevent the Next Jan. 6

Well, it’s over. The Jan. 6 committee has wrapped up its investigation and published its findings online for reporters to comb through right before the holidays. The final report provided more insight as to how deep the conspiracy to prop up the Big Lie went in Trumpworld.

Let’s hope that there is enough will in the Congress to react to these recommendations — or enough time in the current Congress (doubtful).

As someone who live in St. Louis County, Mo, I can’t understand Republican’s attitude towards BLM and Antifa, especially as they relate to protests. Though I don’t live anywhere near Ferguson, MO the protests there and one downtown didn’t complicated my life at anytime.
I do remember the one protest downtown where the St. Louis City PD stuck an undercover officer in the midst of the protesters, and all the undercover officer got out that assignment was to be beaten up by his fellow officers in uniform.

This is a great start. The rest needs to come from the DOJ. And GA and NY.

Let’s get on with it.

Using the insurrection act to stop some of those GOP congressmen from being seated would be a GREAT place to start.

Clarification: that would be the 14th Amendment. The Insurrection Act allows the President to deploy soldiers inside US territory to quell an insurrection. The 14th Amendment is the one with the clause to disbar a representative from serving if they participated in or supported an insurrection or rebellion.

No kidding, and it might just return the House majority back to the Dems. Wouldn’t that be a hoot?

Last night, the MSNBC show which airs at 11:00 PM EST had Joyce Vance on with her insights. She was giving her slant on the J6 Report and, in passing, happened to mention that some GOP Congressmen might need to lawyer up soon.

“The Best Defense Is A Good Offense” has seemed to be the M.O. of GOP CongressCritters…One would never guess that they could be on thin ice, the way they strut and threat.

There are more than a few members of our national legislature who have some ‘splainin’ to do.

These recommendations are all well and good.
But now let’s do something about the various state leges that have given themselves election review authority. If they find “election fraud” they can “correct” the election results and send those to D.C.
And don’t forget about the pending Supreme Court decision on states’ rights regarding how to run elections in their states. We’re not anywhere near out of the woods yet. The next coup won’t make the same mistakes the last one did.

Which states are those? All I’ve heard about are hypotheticals, where states having the GOP trifecta could do this.

Fastest way to get the gops on board is to do a Democratic insurrection. People like Democratic policies and gops know it. Their only hope is in the peaceful transfer of power. Take that away and they’ve got nothing but the Dakotas.

One topic on the subject of Jan 6 preparedness that was little-discussed but got my goat was lack of clarity about whether DoD, Homeland Security, Capitol Police, or DC Police were in charge of defending the Capitol. Who knew and should have told the others about the known threat?
After all this time, you’d think someone would point out that Trump is a known chaos creator. Telling each group that another one was in charge sounds exactly what a chaos creator would do. Not to mention the fact that threats of violent protests were widely known, even to me who am about as far as you can get from law enforcement surveillance/intelligence, but they seemed to be surprised at what happened…

The House select committee also published 11 recommendations for what Congress can do to prevent another insurrection from brewing.
Here are my 11 recommendations:

Get rid of Supreme Court members unqualified for their office
Get rid of Citizens United
Hold politicians accountable for their actions
Get rid of Citizens United
Apply strict FCC rules to all media - cable, internet - and enforce rules about lying
Get rid of Citizens United
Prosecute all insurrectionists and vandals to the fullest extent of the law
Get rid of Citizens United
Prosecute 45* and his cabal for all the crimes they committed since 2016
Get rid of Citizens United

They only have a week to file the suits.
