The House GOP Has Been Ungovernable For More Than A Decade

Be careful what you wish for, and don’t tell the incoming maladministration. Sounds like it’s right up their alley.

That was supposed to be TOP SECRET. You can forget about getting your demo model now, pal.

@john_adams That is under consideration.

All valid, excellent thought out points in a world of rationality. However, here in the upside down, none of that means shit. I heard some guy crowing about how Trump brought down the price of gas already the other day. When I pointed out that he hasn’t even taken office yet I was told I don’t understand the effect Trump has on business. Then I asked if he was responsible for the instability and general drop in the stock market since he was elected and was told it would have been much worse had he not been elected.

So the formula is if something is “good” Trump caused it, and if something is bad it would be much worse if Trump were not in charge. You will find these simple equations work with everything that can possibly happen in the known universe.

According to NYT, he worked as a human resources specialist and information technology specialist during his Afghanistan deployment. I don’t know if he was ever in combat.

And yes, PTSD or other related illness may be partly responsible, but I think we can’t ignore what he actually said in the videos about how he wanted to kill non-Muslim disbelievers as a declared member of ISIS. With all due consideration of other factors, sometimes you have to take someone at their word.

The Las Vegas incident looks to be entirely different. From what we know so far, it could be a classic case of a guy with issues possibly related to his military service, but wound up so tight in a Special Forces tough guy persona that he never let anyone around him know he was suicidal.

And not just a deliberate attack.

If the bollards where under repair they should have had K-Rail (Also called Jersey-Rail, depending on where you live) in place to prevent accidental ramming. That would be drunk drivers, lost drivers, panicked drivers.

To think this was not done at one of NOLA’s biggest celebrations of the year is a failure of the highest magnitude.

(I have a tiny background and history in special event planning.)

I blame my home team Cleveland Browns. Their miserableness is gravitational in its reach.

Seems more likely than it being a “terrorist bombing”, since you’d expect a veteran military guy to be more competent in building an effective IED than the thing(s) that went off.

As you have noted, along with weed. But may I recommend giving up television news? I did that in the Eighties, and it does wonders for the psyche.

After over two decades of these foreign conflicts in a way it’s unfortunately not surprising that some veterans and enlisted soldiers are acting out like this. The term “bring the war home” became a common phrase at the end of the Vietnam war when some veterans engaged in abhorrent acts.
I wasn’t old enough for the Vietnam era draft but I saw how it impacted some of my older neighbors siblings who served and came back. Most were ok and managed to integrate back into civilian society. But others had their share of issues. The uptick in the heroin trade and addiction epidemic became an issue. Thankfully they never became this radicalized.

This is reminding me of the “pivot.” If somehow it does break, there will immediately be a new, even dumber one. They’re invested now, and changing their minds would be an admission of weakness or stupidity. And of course, they’re so weak and stupid they can’t admit it.

You know, I think, that I don’t have the TV on during the day. Since the election …no TV news. I’ve replaced it with binge watching semi-educational stuff like the old show “Mythbusters” or “Expedition Unknown” both on Hulu TV. I prefer some mild science content.
So it looks like I am following your advice.
