Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) likes to make a big show of his hostility towards the mainstream press. He most recently made that clear at a February roundtable when, between a panel of libel lawyers and critics, he complained about journalists advancing “narratives” designed to “attack” him and denounced the landmark 1964 Supreme Court decision New York Times v. Sullivan for enabling the media to “find a way to smear you.” A month later, the Republican-led state legislature introduced a bill seeking to roll back press freedoms seemingly based on his complaints.
Sen. Chris Coons eviscerated DeSantis on Morning Joe this morning.
The Senator’s statements were some of the finest, well-thought-out arguments against DeSantis I have heard to date. The Senator’s talking points should be shouted from every mountain.
One of the roundtable guests then asked if Putin was going to be the featured keynote speaker at the 2024 RNC convention.
No, Republicans make more outrage and outrage generates more clicks and more clicks means more ad revenue. When you refuse to call bullshit, bullshit, and lies, lies that’s what MOR reporting pretty much boils down to.
For Republicans and the ‘news’ outfits serving up their stew, every day is Festivus.
DeSantis likes to cite the Bible and claim that he wears the “armor of god” but when it comes to defending the state and national interests he’s a flaccid stooge of authoritarians like Orban, Bolsonaro (who is still residing in the state) and Putin.
The Hubris of Rhonda made him make the wrong call on Foreign Policy (which, unsurprisingly, is a requirement for a United States President to be familiar with).
Pompous Fascist
If the only people you pay attention to speak highly of you, that is a recipe for disaster.
A TPMer whose user name I don’t remember and I don’t know on which thread wrote that DeSantis had peaked too soon. That’s what we’re seeing here, he’s everywhere saying stupid things, and worse, we’re hearing the dumb things trumpet is saying in return about him. The election is over a year away and to have repub pols in my face constantly until then makes me want to spew.
We all know TFG will tear down Ronnie until there is nothing left but an oil slick. The GOP should just resign itself to the fact that until the fatman dies they are stuck with him. They were so smug during the impeachment hearings. Karma is exactly the bitch we told them it would be.
In some of the small brains small repubs have they know well that trumpet is not good for the repub brand. They’ve lost elections lately, they’ve lost women voters, smart ones anyway, and aren’t likely to get them back, but still they persist in cheering on an agenda which will hurt Americans. They also know or should a re-election of trumpet will do more harm to this country than good but will still kiss the. . . ring. Rhonda as an alternative to trumpet is unacceptable, they need to look further and lose their fear of backlash coming from Fatboy.
Former Goldman Sachs CEO: Notion that SVB failed because of diversity is 'laughable’
From CNN’s Rob McLean
Lloyd Blankfein, senior chairman and former CEO of Goldman Sachs, said it was “laughable” that Silicon Valley Bank collapsed because it had board members who belong to minority communities.
During a conversation with Erin Burnett on CNN’s Erin Burnett Outfront Tuesday, Blankfein reacted to a quote from Florida Governor Ron DeSantis and a Wall Street Journal op-ed by Andy Kessler.
DeSantis blamed the bank’s collapse on its concern with “DEI [diversity, equity and inclusion] and politics.”
Kessler, meanwhile, wrote, "In its proxy statement, SVB notes that besides 91% of their board being independent and 45% women, they also have “1 Black,” “1 LGBTQ+” and “2 Veterans.” I’m not saying 12 white men would have avoided this mess, but the company may have been distracted by diversity demands.”

Bullshit
So Florida is run by a White guy. Does the fact he’s White make any difference? I mean intelligence-wise. No, no difference. How does Ron feel about Obama being in office? Personally I think Barack did a very good job. And I say Ron DeSantis is a racist.
