Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) will not run for reelection in 2020, the Republican lawmaker’s office confirmed to TPM on Monday.
Soon it’ll just be Trump in the White House tweeting
Rep. Greg Walden (R-OR) announces retirement to spend time at his great, great uncle’s pond.
Not that it’s expected to do him any good.
“But I also know that for me, the time has come to pursue new challenges and opportunities,”
Oh, sure, any of them have to do with prison time?
Trump offers all of the above everyday.
The cloaked language rationalizing the reasons for departure is hilarious.
“Walden said he’s ‘confident’ that he would’ve won another term and that he’s ‘optimistic’ that Republicans will win back the House.”
In related news, Walden confirmed the missing Lindbergh baby will be found any day now.
Batboy is real.
And the moon is, in fact, made out of gorgonzola.
Apparently all the winning just got to be too much for Walden.
Republicans are choosing to surrender rather than staying in the fight against Trump. So much for their professed beliefs in small government, reducing debt, free markets, and a robust American foreign policy.
In a video sent to TPM, Walden said he’s “confident” that he would’ve won another term and that he’s “optimistic” that Republicans will win back the House.
Are we sure that guy isn’t actually J.K. Simmons? Or Wallace Shawn?
Euphenisms are the Goopers’ friends! He can’t say something like “The president and I may share a political party, but I gotta get up in the morning and look at myself in the mirror. So screw it, I give up. Being in the minority sucks, and I don’t want to do it anymore.”

“But I also know that for me, the time has come to pursue new challenges and opportunities,” he continued.
He’s going to be a lobbyist.
Only so many lifeboats on the Trumptanic…
And Donnie stiffed the contractor’s that provided them…
Very surprised at this. Walden would have won re-election: it’s that kind of district, and I’ll be surprised if a Dem can win it. But, there’s always hope to turn our entire state’s delegation blue.
Which snowflakes around here flagged stevie’s post?
You may not like that parts of Oregon are Supremacist Central but grow up.
While it is fitting to say “Good riddance to Republicans”…
I’d rather have a healthy 2 party system that stands for our country and the rule of law rather than have one party act as Trump’s Thugs-R-Us loyalists or RepubliCON Quislings!
I don’t think “winning back the House” means what you think it means.
