A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo. Sign up for the email version. A Historic Third Time Last night, Donald Trump (2016, 2020, 2024) joined Richard Nixon (1960, 1968, 1972) as the only three-time presidential nominees in the history of the Republican Party. We could win this election if we just make THIS the #1 graphic that is paired with any news about the Rs
Gavin Newsom could enthrall the nation with his 1st hand account of seeing the R evil take over and consume someone he once loved.
That is so on brand. Everything everywhere all of the time screams cheap huckster. Anyone who has paid any attention knows that Trump would have gladly held 2 senior citizens and a St. Jude’s child up as a shield if he had the option.

Re: the headline- the Democratic Party the we knew is gone as well.
Oddly enough, I think it’s sad that conservatives in this country have lost a political party that represents their views. Our nation is best served if liberal progressive voices and conservative voices act together to forge a way forward.
What this country absolutely does not need is the current version of the republican party which is nothing more than a fascist cult of personality. A cult in thrall to a malignant and twisted personality.
I’m solidly in the progressive/liberal camp but I do wish for some old-school, pre-reagan types in the opposition party. I don’t expect we’ll be seeing any Everett Dirksen or Nelson Rockefeller types in today’s republican party, though. Just more loudmouth blowhards committed to self-enrichment and personal celebrity.
How sad. She was a lovely sophisticated looking young woman and has morphed into good lord I have no words. The long hair and black eye makeup are aging.
Nothing has changed with the progressive goals of the Democratic party, as far as I can see. What’s happening right now is a discussion within the party about the best path to beating Trump in November.
