The sprawling Fulton County indictment against former President Donald Trump and 18 co-defendants for their alleged efforts to reverse the results of the 2020 presidential election includes a brief recounting — and a set of charges — related to one of the more bizarre episodes mounted by Trump and his allies in the final days of 2020.

Unreal, there’s no way you could even make this stuff up. The trial is going to be must watch TV (they should release it on dvd once it’s over).

Jerry Springer would be proud. Geraldo Rivera would be proud. Maury Povich would be proud.

Can Trump refuse to appear in a criminal trial as he has done with civil trials? I am so looking forward to watching him squirm, sweat and whimper. Is it even possibile for him to sit quietly for hours at a time?

I will go out on a limb and predict that before the end of the first day of any trial, he will be threatened with contempt. This excludes Cannon’s court as she will have coke and cookies for him.

The face looks right, but there is far too much hair on his head. That’s more hair than he has now!

I still think there are several legal and honorable options for Skanky that don’t require him to take any accountability for any of his crimes and ongoing criminal enterprises. These options do not require him to run for – and win – the presidential election, and he will be able to spend more time with Wanky and Melaria. It will also cost a lot less than the sleazy white nationalist lawyers that he will have to hire.

I remember thinking at the time that an associate of Kanye visiting and saying the things she told Ruby Freeman–the day or two before the attack on the Capitol–was prima facie evidence there was a conspiracy reaching up to the highest level…or it was the most improbable coincidence in history.

I’m glad she got rolled up in this prosecution. Would’ve drove me nuts, otherwise.

I think we can categorize many of the pro-Trumpism people in this article into three categories:
1- Amoral professional grifters.
2- Amoral ameuter grifters.
3- Amoral grifter wannabes.

This article shows just how scary things got for Ruby Freeman. This scheme would have scared folks with less personal integrity into perjuring themselves. And to shere were they going to spirit her off? Trump tower? Mar-a-lago?

Thanks for this piece, Hunter Walker. I’ve been feeling that this story has been under-reported. you nailed it.

Much of the media focused on the call with Raffensberger, not surprisingly. But I’ve had a stronger visceral reaction to the Ruby Freeman and Shaye Moss parts of the story ever since I first heard them back in 2021. I knew lots of Black women from the South in union work I did in the 70’s and 80’s. Freeman and Moss remind me so much of them. Just the salt of the earth. Wonderful people. It was outrageous of Trump to slander their names in public with zero evidence, as if they were pieces of shit. No ordinary citizen should ever be publicly attacked in the media by POTUS, even if they’re guilty. That’s what prosecutors are for, if they’re guilty. I don’t need any other reason to denounce Trump, though multiple such reasons exist.

According to Reuters, Lee worked with that group until 2010 before leading a “Quick Response Team” that was sponsored by a Lutheran church in Illinois.

Apparently, these Lutherans in Illinois share very little in common with their Lutheran brethren in the Nordic countries.

This part is chilling. I mean really fucking evil.

“Those individuals were willing to assist me if I could confirm for them that that was in fact the case,” he added. “So there was already a plan of action, there was already a location where we were going to move her.”

My wife is Lutheran. There are Lutherans all over the political spectrum, from strong progressives to miserable Trumpites. There are different synods, really different religions almost. The ELCA synod has gay pastors including my wife’s former congregation - in Illinois (we moved). The Missouri and Wisconsin synods are full-on right wing culture warriors.
