Rodimer won Nevada’s Republican primary in 2020 in the state’s 3rd Congressional District. He lost the general election to Rep. Susie Lee (D-Nev.) by less than 13,000 votes. Rodimer was endorsed by former President Trump.
He is an attorney and former professional wrestler. In the primary, Rodimer defeated his nearest primary opponent by more than 15 percentage points.

OOPS! Texas GOP Sounds Alarm After Too Many GOP Voters Purged | Crooks and Liars

The Republican Party of Texas suggested election officials may have purged too many of their voters from the voting rolls.
In a message on Super Tuesday, the Texas GOP sounded the alarm about possible problems with voting.
“We have received reports from election judges that some Republican voters in Travis County have not been able to vote,” the post on X said.
“This is due to an update to voter registration rolls that took place between early voting and Election Day. We alerted the Secretary of State’s office, they followed up with the county elections office as did the Travis County Republican Party.”

The takeaway with McConnell and the rest is that the old Republican Party actually had very very few that had the courage of their convictions. That is why people like Romney and Cheney stand out so much is the utter abdication of all others in selling out their country for the orange man.
The Democratic party could go very far just taking up the mantle of honor and convictions that the Republicans have so thoroughly vacated. I guarantee that a huge amount of Independents that are thoroughly misaligned with the Democrats policy prescriptions are still absolutely horrified by the abdication of honor and convictions. Rural america has always stood with pride of honor and convictions that are more than skin deep.

My grandfather died years ago but he was a rural man who believed a man was defined by simple things. The ability to keep his word. The ability to treat others with respect. The ability to defend those who were not capable of defending themselves. Honor. Integrity. Character. Conviction.
He was a man of few words, but he would have been utterly horrified by Cruz and others who watched as their wives were attacked by the Orange one and still kissed his ring. It goes against everything that my grandfather, a rural man, believed and how he expected men to behave. His politics were not aligned with the modern Democratic party, but I know that he would be disgusted with McConnell and Cruz and the rest so much that he never would have been able to vote for them.
If I were an ad maker for Democrats I would play on loop these moments of Trump attacking these people’s wives and the subsequent kissing the ring over and over with voice over that America has lost its way and appeal to an older era where honor, integrity and convictions mattered. I can’t think of anything that would unite Independents more against this abomination.

Mike Johnson Reportedly Pleads With GOP: Don’t Make a Scene at SOTU
House Speaker Mike Johnson pleaded with his Republican colleagues during a closed-door conference meeting Wednesday to refrain from any outlandish behavior during President Joe Biden’s Thursday night State of the Union speech, according to The Hill. “Decorum is the order of the day,” Johnson said, according to one of the three unidentified Republican lawmakers who attended the meeting and spoke with the publication. Decorum hasn’t necessarily been the case during the past few State of the Union speeches; especially last year’s, when a number of Republicans openly heckled Biden. Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-GA) even called him a “liar” during a discussion of Republican attempts to cut Social Security and Medicare. Some GOP members, however, seemed skeptical that their colleagues would heed Johnson’s call. “Will they do it? Somebody asked me that earlier and I said, ‘Does the Baptist Church got a bus?’ Of course they will because he’s gonna say some very offensive things, he’s gonna attack us,” Rep. Tim Burchett (R-Tenn.) said.

Typical how you have to read till the penultimate paragraph of the news story before you see the word “Republican,” although I assumed as much.
An ex-pro wrestler, because of course, and prior arrest records, including for domestic violence. And apparently he has made a new career out of being a perennial Republican candidate in more than one state.
This is the type of guy attracted to the GOP these days.
