Negligent homicide charges for McConnell have to be an option if he prevents voting by mail and people are forced to wait in deadly lines.
“So why, with less than five months until November 3rd, has Mitch McConnell failed to take action”?
A wild guess here: Because Republicans don’t want everyone to vote?
Then there is also that they have not yet found a way to profit, that is cash out. They need their “pound of flesh” before they are willing to do a damn thing about anything.
To put it bluntly: McConnell is holding our democracy hostage.
He and the GOP have been holding our democracy hostage for years.
I apologize up front for being this guy, but at some point, there should be a copy editor for stuff like this at TPM. Even Josh’s posts clearly need some review from time to time.
There’s no such word as “unneededly”. It’s needlessly.
Calling Michael Bloomberg.
Calling Tom Steyer.
crickets
I suppose McConnell’s angle will be “how are we going to pay for this” but that’s not really it. He’s not paying for this for the same reason I don’t pay for lima beans. I hate that shit. 4 billion. Today is Friday. By Monday evening we’ll have spent that much just on interest of our national debt. How do tax cuts work here?
Vote Blue! MAGA!
McConnell isn’t interested in saving our democracy. His ancestors were Confederates and he is doing his dead level best to honor them. He figures that can best be accomplished by advancing the last gasps of white racism and Donald Trump.
Not negligent but planned and executed. First degree murder.
To put it bluntly: McConnell is holding our democracy hostage.
…again! Can you say, “Neil Gorsuch?” I knew you could.
Well I hope nobody is discouraged from voting because it’s going to be difficult.
Otherwise, someone tell us how we counter this.
If it’s countered right GOP efforts to keep people from voting can be made a tool to help them do so. If people understand that if they want their right to vote back as it was they’re going to have to vote for that. It will be tough. Long lines…broken machines…disinformation…but folks can tough their way through that if they know doing so will shorten those lines and get better machines. It’s an ugly fight. Like all fights though you fight for the spoils that victory gives you.
So people will need to vote. They need to understand that waiting in line is how you beat those that made you wait in it. That waiting until midnight is how you outlast malfunctioning voting machines intentionally made defective. Democratic organizations can use their savvy to assist people in finding out if they’ve been purged or had problems with their registrations manufactured by GOP governments. That needs to start now.
African Americans have been waiting in lines to vote since they could vote.
I remember lines in black areas that were 4 plus hours long in 2008.
Well I live in Florida…and you in Texas I think…so we’ve both seen that shit enough. To end it more people, black and white, will have to wait longer.
Not too much longer. We get Congress, we can fix this shit.
There are people working on all of this right now. LeBron James is one.
There’s always the local yokels to worry about. Here in Jacksonville we don’t have much of that crap. Lots of purging and administrative crap but no one dares jack with the actual election here. Our last mayor was a Black Democrat so the numbers are here. You do it and the people will stop it…and you. Our current mayoral schlub is a guy named Currey who right out of the box wanted to “privatize” JEA…our utilities provider which is municipally owned. He caught major guff and backed off. He seemed shocked that Duval County was not reliably GOP’er. He’ll get the same if he jacks with the election at least if he does so openly. You can put limits on these assholes and if you want it bad enough oust them. I get a feeling people want it bad enough.
O yes I think so.
