A lot of things happened. Here are some of the things. This is TPM’s Morning Memo.
The House GOP’s brazenness, its lack of shame, and its full-throated embrace of interfering with ongoing criminal investigations has the effect of almost normalizing what is an extraordinary level of systemic corruption and abuse of power.
Is Jordan on offense or defense?
It matters.
What we see as malice towards Democrats may actually be desperate fear of prosecution and incarceration, manifest as counter-aggression against the “authorities.”
Is this investigate-the-investigators gambit really just a threat intended to back them off from closing in on the Jan 6 truth?
It doesn’t speak well of two-party democracy.
“Democracy” isn’t schizophrenic, even if our current process, by whatever label, seems lost to its own split personality.
Zinke claiming the Deep State wants to wipe out the American cowboy is a real head scratcher, the vast majority of cowboys were made obsolete at the end of the 1800’s.
Re Hinson and civics lessons: maybe letting them think they can unilaterally make laws could be a strategy for the next two years. As in, ‘yes, Rep. Hinson, you have cut Social Security, now it’s okay to support a deal on the debt ceiling.’
4-wheel Hondas wiped out the cowboy because they replaced the horse.
I see it every day here in Kansas.
The horse trailers are gone and ATV trailers proliferate.
I’ve wondered about it, if they want to blame someone for the demise of the horse and cowboy, blame two-stroke ATV’s.
Seriously.
Glad to see the Proud Boys trial progressing. Hopeful for more seditious conspiracy convictions. Put J6 on the front page big-time at the same time MAGA House GOPs are trying to obstruct investigations.
There are plenty of cowboys out there (well a few thousands) working in cattle ranches, they are likely to be over 40 a good chunk of them Hispanic or black and they earn like 30K a year, about 30% are female.
