The College Board Strikes Back At DeSantis For African American Studies ‘Slander’

The College Board hit back at Governor Ron DeSantis (R-FL) on Saturday for rejecting their pilot Advanced Placement African American Studies course – and using his public rejection for political gain.

DeSantis is the furthest thing away from being a scholar, in training, perspective, judgement and intellect…and he chooses to pass judgement on them.

All for a shot at being President.

Let that sink in…for the welfare of this country.

Good for the College Board. First for calling DeSantis and his racist ‘friends’ out and secondly, for acknowledging they made some mistakes and they are being singled out for political gain.

Never wrestle with a pig. You both get dirty and the pig likes it.

When you’re explaining, you’re losing. When you tell someone to fuck off, you’re winning. Just a suggestion for how AP board should have handled the situation.

First they knuckle under then when they experience a back lash they strike back. It is very clear the College Board is struggling with how to respond to DeSantis.

No one out there right now scares me quite as much as DeSantis.

The College Board said that their communications with the FDOE were mostly “absent of substance”: “In the discussion, they did not offer feedback but instead asked vague, uninformed questions like, ‘What does the word ‘intersectionality’ mean?’ and ‘Does the course promote Black Panther thinking?’”

The nonprofit claims that the FDOE never sent them feedback after these calls, but opted to release the Jan. 12 letter, “now with inflated rhetoric and posturing,” saying the course “lacks educational value” as a publicity stunt.

For Floridians to grader their FDOE, will some FL media outlet please do a Freedom of Information request to get copies of the communications?

I mean yes DeSantis used this as a political stunt because it’s on brand for him to belittle A/A History in a state that is almost 16% A/A.
I hope this is the first bite in Ron’s ass.

The right only acknowledges 3/5 of that 16%. just sayin’

I appreciate the clarification but I am not certain that it will be heard by anyone except a select motivated few as it will not be hyped by a prospective presidential candidate with a huge microphone. It’s news cycle loss for substance and a PR win for DeSantis and I doubt there is a real way around that.

This is a weak response from College Board to DeSantis & FDOE.

The College Board needs to take strong measures like not certifying ANY AP courses in FL until FL lifts ban of AA History in FL. FDOE should have no say so on the content of any AP course given their history of being politically biased.

A strong course of action is only way to rebut & refute DeSantis & FDOE.

College Board needs to stand up firm & LOUD & denounce the blatant politicization of AP Black History.

Although you’d never know it from the glut of daily articles about him that DO NOT mention it, he’s got a record of voting to cut supporting Social Security and Medicare as a Congressman. It will gain more publicity - especially from Trump.

What’s particularly distressing to me is the publicity he is getting - DAILY - from all corners. This is even earlier than they started with Trump…

We all know what DeSantis is. All we are doing is haggling over the price.

While I appreciate the College Board for finally getting in the game and trying to get on base and score a few runs.

But I am concerned they found their balls to late. DeSanits has had weeks to get his message out. As they said at the start of the article,

“We deeply regret not immediately denouncing the Florida Department of Education’s slander, magnified by the DeSantis administration’s subsequent comments…"

Florida will soon be known as ‘wader land’. A casual observation of his build suggests that De Santis will float.
