The 10 Things Dems Say Prove Trump Acted Corruptly In Ukraine Scheme | Talking Points Memo

Sure, the bogus investigations that President Donald Trump wanted Ukraine to launch into Joe Biden and the 2016 election were conspiratorial garbage. But beyond that, House impeachment manager Adam Schiff (D-CA) argued Thursday, there are 10 clear reasons that the push for the investigations was corrupt on its face.

But Hunter Biden was making money in Ukraine, that makes it all kosher.

Too bad the R voters won’t care, because they should.

OT but important to anyone over 65…

Washington (CNN)President Donald Trump signaled this week that he’s open to cutting federal entitlements to reduce the federal deficit, despite previously campaigning on protecting Medicare and Social Security.

Asked by CNBC at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, whether entitlements would ever be on his plate, Trump responded, “At some point they will be.”

“We have tremendous growth. We’re going to have tremendous growth. This next year I – it’ll be toward the end of the year. The growth is going to be incredible. And at the right time, we will take a look at that,” he added.
…
That should fry any chance trump will get votes from us old farts.
Edit
I remember a time when even just mentioning a cut in Social Security or Medicare would destroy a politician’s career. Now trump s saying he will balance the budget on the backs of our old folks. How very kind of him. Right in line with his deeply empathic character. Now, I rarely use emojis but I will now…

Top 10 lists are ubiquitous. This is a very smart way to entice networks, social media personalities, and others to latch on and distribute it far and wide.

Honestly, I think Schiff purposefully dumbed it down -knowing most people won’t read -but it gets the message out and the point across.

That exhibit shown in the article is quite media-friendly.

I passed the “milestone” 6 years ago.
If trump wants to cause economic hardship on old people and others who have Social Security and Medicare then he should have no problem with a 10% wealth tax. After all a few million is chump change to him cuz as he said “I’m really rich”.

As soon as you become aware of him you realize he’s not just a hotshot lawyer, he’s a masterful judge of his multiple audiences, which I imagine any effective courtroom lawyer has to be, but just wow, he’s really good. If you say Trump is media savvy, you have to say every 5-year-old who ever ruined a social occasion is media-savvy too. Schiff can present complex ideas in ways ordinary people can understand and care about. That’s Obama-level stuff. You can’t praise him highly enough, he’s just a godsend.

And I have found so many in total denial: “They wouldn’t dare touch that”.
Oh, really now?

They’re going after SSI. I have a source that tells me they are arbitrarily stopping SSI with any number of people and making them reestablish themselves. Of course they’ll flunk the test.
Yes, I know there’s some fraud, but the SSI people I’ve met could not possibly be employed in any capacity except maybe pet sitting.

And it’s the job of the senators to listen to the evidence, no matter how often it’s repeated or how “bored” they are.

It’s their job. To republicans: Do it for once!

One of those ads will have to say “no one defending him or PP himself says he didn’t do it, but even if he did these things, he says so what.”

Why he wants to get down onto the subway tracks and put his tongue on that third rail is beyond me for as long as it takes me to remember that he tells anyone what he figures they want to hear, and if he tells someone else something wildly contradictory 20 minutes later he doesn’t understand why that’s a problem. Rich fucks have wanted to roll back the FDR safety net since 1932. Trump thinks he can lie and say it won’t be a problem, because he thinks he has magical powers that way. He will find out otherwise.

His base contains people who are recipients of these programs, and they won’t stand for it. But it’s up to the House to manage spending bills, or in this case no more spending bills. It’s a non-starter and IMO strictly for campaign '20 consumption.

They’ll happily cheer on Trump cutting SS/Medicare cause they believe they’ll only be cut for “the people who need to be hurt”.

The cruelty is the point.

They hear it and it burns like fire and they hate it, but it won’t sway them from their course. They’re going to drive off that cliff. The burden is on us, our electorate, to say I’m tired of leopards eating my face and this November I’m voting against the Leopards Eating People’s Faces Party.
