House seat
Jahana Hayes is 1,258 votes ahead of George Logan in the CT 5th District. That would be about 0.51% of the total, and the recount hurdle is 0.50%, so maybe maybe maybe she’ll win without a recount. Probably be a GOP lawsuit.
And CT voted 60% in favor of an early voting amendment. Some knucklehead from New Britain is suing against this in Hartford, saying it’ll violate her right to ballot security.
Yes, but CT has retained both Lamont and Blumenthal. I feel better about moving back there.
Wisconsin kept Evers, but also RoJo. That, I cannot understand, other than the inherent racism of just not being able to vote for a black man. The fear campaign lodged against him was a success and we are the worse for it. I won’t feel badly about leaving WI next year. At least I’ve helped keep the executive branch.
Just as I predicted here months ago. Dems keep the Senate (provided Warnock wins the run-off), and the GOP wins around a 10 seat majority in the House.
McCarthy will lead an ungovernable caucus will be replaced in the first year.
Many of the House Republicans are crazies but others are more pragmatic. While many of the crazies are playing for the media the more pragmatic ones might not be willing to go scorched earth after yesterday. Kevin McCarthy hasn’t shown the political chops to navigate what just happened. The next two years are going to be rather interesting. I suspect we can now conclude the Republicans aren’t going to go scorched earth on American government. Of course MTG and her crowd is going to claim a mandate a lot of Republicans can count and will know better.
More important than anything in this election are the inroads the Democrats made in state legislatures across the country. That is where the Democrats should spend their time and money the next two years.
This is my House of Reprehensibles race. This guy never had a chance. The Tiffany campaign painted the candidate as a carpetbagger that only moved to WI from MN last year to run.
174 wins and 9 losses, A GREAT EVENING, and the Fake News Media, together with their partner in crime, the Democrats, are doing everything possible to play it down. Amazing job by some really fantastic candidates!
Personally I hoped Dobbs would provide a lift that wasn’t getting seen in the polling—it’s really time to stop using traditional polls, there has to be a better way—but I was mostly bracing myself for bad news. The good guys don’t always win, has been the takeaway in recent years. This is very, very welcome. Thanks, America. You made a good choice. And especially the young people. We owe you, gang.
I brewed and savored a cup of my very best coffee. checked the weather, worked a few puzzles, and since it was still too early to let the chickens out, finally chanced a peek. Whew. Thank FSM.
