Thanks, COVID: Gallup Survey Shows Americans’ Mental Health Taking A Hit | Talking Points Memo

We can blame COVID for that.

A Gallup survey published Monday shows that Americans’ assessment of their mental health has plummeted to its lowest point in the last two decades.

I want a second opinion

Sorry I don’t mean I disagree with people’s mental health taking a hit, but a sampling size 1018 is pretty teeny tiny.
And this is probably the least unexpected result ever in the history of polling during a global pandemic.

It’s like relying on Yelp reviews to choose a brain surgeon…

You’d likely end up with Ben Carson…

If Donnie had asked that people wear masks we wouldn’t be where we are.

This cheered me up, even though it would be four years too late…

Leaves more time to fumigate the White House, as well…

You are right, part of it is accountable to being “sick” of Donnie’s winning. Donnie’s a superspreader of everything vile.

Thanks for the safety tip Vanky. We’ll leave the kids home that day.

That should earn a little visit from the authorities.

Just today I saw a video of people walking around in Australia without masks not because they’re being jerks but because after having done their part the country is down to an estimated forty-some active cases nationwide. They’re throwing celebrations in cities that have been covid-free for months. God damn it that could have been us. But here we are. Happy holidays, everyone.

The only reason that polling shows a decline is because the introverts who are thrilled with 2020 were never going to answer the phone if it was family, let alone some stranger trying to do a poll.

He’ll be at some pains to explain to them what a little wussy he actually is, but it’ll be believable. There are still charges to hit him with.

It’s summer. That’s probably the biggest factor.

And here’s one American that went off the fucking deep-end ages ago. This pathetically sociopathic excuse for a human being sure makes it a lot harder for the rest of us to get through this nightmare too. Yeah, you betcha…I’m fucking depressed. People gotta know that that’s kinda normal right now considering all the death and dying going on with not many people at the top doing much about it.

Most of my immediate family live in the State of Victoria, and they were proud to report on the family Zoom call last Saturday that they hadn’t had an active case for 37 days. When the neighboring state (South Australia) had a case of a returning citizen developing symptoms, they closed the border for two weeks and last weekend there was a major scandal when a return pair of permanent residents got off the plane and instead of getting on the bus for the quarantine center, walked around to the domestic terminal and tried to rent a car. Somebody at the rental desk overheard them talking and called the authorities. They’re both now firmly in quarantine, and they’re contact-tracing everybody who was on the plane, on the shuttle bus and in the car rental agency. And folks are pissed at them for threatening the country’s success, so the case is getting lots of airtime. Australians definitely get that this affects them all as a collective and aren’t putting up with any shit to keep things safe…

That folks, is how you get to now 39 days without a new case…

But of course. A country populated by criminals was already quite familiar with lockdown and solitary confinement.
