Texts Show How Members Of Congress Advanced ‘Antifa’ Conspiracy Theories In The Wake Of Jan. 6

Within two hours of protesters breaking the first barricades at the U.S. Capitol on Jan. 6, 2021, right-wing politicians and media figures were already texting President Trump’s Chief of Staff Mark Meadows to lay blame on far-left “antifa” agitators. The first message to mention the group came from Fox New host Laura Ingraham.

Any Republican want to give me a name, just one name of a member of Antifa responsible for any crimes at the insurrection on that day? Go ahead, I’ll wait.

Are these MAGAs stupid or lying?

Yes.

Good that Trump denounces violence but could add & well demand justice for those who became violent & well get to the bottom of what group they’re with.

Shit. I agree with Gohmert.

I kinda don’t think he really knew what he was saying, though. The Stupid runs deep with that one.

As the crowds raged through the Capitol, Donald Trump Jr., the president’s son, wrote Meadows to say his father was not doing “enough” to “condemn this shit.”

Maybe Junior also relayed this message to his dad directly, but I doubt it. It seems he felt more comfortable using a third party to deliver an admonishment. Not really surprising as they don’t seem to have a particularly warm or close relationship.

I still don’t understand why this is released a month after the election instead of a month before. The lame ducks obviously will not expel any traitor or discipline them in any way.

The incoming rightists are obviously going to be too busy retaliating, to expel any traitors or discipline them in any way.

This still looks like a dumber political own-goal than many dozens of dumbshit things the Rump did.

It has been said here many times but
If Don Jr and all had really thought it was antifa, then they wouldn’t have been begging 45* to tell his people to go home. And it wouldn’t have taken multiple takes for the president to grudgingly call off his minions and tell them he loved them.

I think ANTIFI is what they call the pheromones ants use to communicate.

Kind of like WIFI, but analogue.

Metaphorically speaking, of course.

Metaphorically, I identify with Germany and Peru.

They’ve never been able to and they would deflect with Hunter Biden’s laptop (and worse), so don’t hang by the neck waiting for that list of names.

Dontcha know there is a war on Christmas going on? That made-in-Chyna plastic tree at Foxy News headquarters is not going to pay for itself.

Happy Holidays and Happy Kwanzaa to all the traitors in the racist white nationalist movement.

Seems noteworthy that Marge thought the invasion was bad while it was happening, so bad that she was trying to blame it on the left. That’s a pretty strong indication that she didn’t know the plan was to attack the Capitol and fuck up Congress’s shit.

When Kevin McCarthy called Trump on J6 to get him to call off his mob, Trump tried to pin the blame on Antifa. Even Kevin wasn’t dumb enough to buy that.

Probably not particularly surprising, but 21 of the 34 members texting Meadows represented former slave states. That’s ~62%

As did Meadows when he was in Congress.
