Texas Sets Off Right-Wing Bidding War With ERIC Departure

For years, voter fraud activist Alan Vera made a regular pilgrimage to the Texas state Capitol. He urged lawmakers to pass laws tightening registration requirements, and grew close enough with GOP legislators that, when his birthday came around this past April, they serenaded him with “Happy Birthday” while giving him a big cookie with a candle to blow out.

Oy vey! That’s all I’ve got, and a headache.

Experts told TPM that the most likely outcome is that the state lands back where it was before it joined ERIC — in 2019, when it faced lawsuits over an attempt to remove non-citizens from the voter rolls that resulted in thousands of people being purged from the voter rolls.

Noting that what happened in 2019 was the brain child of a man named Gregg Abbott, https://talkingpointsmemo.com/muckraker/greg-abbott-behind-push-texas-voter-purge-list,

The term “not a bug but a feature” is appropriate.

Fascism has voter manipulation as a playbook

They don’t care if they get sued after the election for secretly purging voters. They only care that targeted groups miss the opportunity to vote.

No one should fool themselves into thinking axing ERIC was about Soros. Any excuse would do so long as it let Texas pull out of a registry it could not manipulate. ERIC allows Texas to take control of another voteer function in the state with no transparency or oversight. That’s all there is to it.

Another problem with ERIC (for the GOP) is that it was designed to expose double voting.

But, in recent times, cases of “double voting” seem to disproportionally involve Republicans. Sometimes those who have moved, and sometimes those who feel entitled to vote in the different states where they have their winter and summer homes.

Exposing more of that wouldn’t do the Republican Fraud Squad much good.

It would make the article a lot better to explicitly state that “fractal programming” is not a thing, and that to software experts, talking about using "fractal programming"as part of voter registration analysis is a strong indicator of a snake oil sales operation.

Last night I watched part 1 of The History Channel’s 3 part series about FDR, I saw episodes 2 and 3 the previous days when it aired but missed episode 1 so had to watch it on demand.

Anyway, part 1 on FDR discussed how his being crippled made him the man he was.

“Progress is not measured by those having to much getting more. Rather, progress is measured by those having to little getting enough.”

Looking at FDR and than looking at Greg Abbott I just have to say “what the fuck”.

“The liberty of a democracy is not safe if the people tolerated the growth of private power to a point where it becomes stronger than the democratic state itself. That in its essence is fascism: ownership of government by an individual, by a group, or any controlling private power.”

But it sounds like something. As Colbert brilliantly said, “It has a truthiness to it.”

“one that can do what ERIC does with a start-up cost of $100,000 or less”

HAHAHAHA that’s not even going to be enough to pay for the RFP.

Was there nothing better to say in regard to our greatest president, FDR, than “what the fuck”? Poor you, being so tongue tied.

It’ll soon be June 6, 79 years after the D-Day landings and on the same day, a Tuesday. FDR spoke to the country but it was left to HST to manage the country in peacetime. He was scared to death of what he had to do, but, I believe, he grew into the job.

Noting that I agree that FDR was not only America’s greatest president but also the greatest world conqueror in history, I said “what the fuck” in regard to Greg Abbott.

And in regard to Greg Abbott, “what the fuck” is the best I can say.

Guess the GOP thug voters that vote in multiple states, one of them Texas, will now be able to get away with it longer.

He wrote a series of columns for right-wing conspiracy website Gateway Pundit describingERIC as aimed at “voter roll fattening,” while claiming to possess a technology called “fractal programming” which could do the job better.
