Performative nonsense that will not have any discernable impact on elective abortions in Texas.
One of the original talking points in favor of legal abortion was that women who wanted them were just going to go ahead and get them anyway. And it’s still true.
Republicans are all for respecting state’s rights, except when they aren’t.
And Republicans are all about FreeDumb, unless you are female and/or have skin darker than a paper bag.
When the Texas GQP cut off funding to Planned Parenthood, they pinky-swore that the state would make sure women could still get medical care other than abortions. Three guesses what never happened . . . the money has mostly been funneled to “crisis pregnancy centers”, which provide no medical services and exist to persuade women to continue with their pregnancy.
The GQP doesn’t care once the fetus is born and becomes a human.
I’d like to meet Mr. Seago and ask him how many times he’s been pregnant.
Perhaps we should give Texas and my state Florida exactly what they ask for. No abortions of any kind. No one sends pills into the states. The people in both have been numbed by inundation with right wing lies emanating from their elected officials. None of that will change until the people get a slap that wakes them and they decide to make the changes. They’re the only ones that can do it. Not holding my breath.
Interesting that Texas’s motto is “Don’t mess with Texas”. Perhaps Texas should stop messing with the rest of us.
